I just emailed this to the committee:

    Senators,

With all due respect, we are listening on-line and this is embarrassing.
It is obvious you are grasping at straws, and in the end, you will only affect Law abiding honest citizens, and these citizens are NOT the problem.

Regulating a firearm because it has a given feature does NOT stop crime, especially when these firearms are not used in crime.

Gun control only disarms honest people. And honest law abiding people are the ones who vote!

    Kill this travesty.

The sad thing is, I actually prefer it this way over a purely democratic vote. I get a headache just trying to educate my friends and family who already own guns. Some of them bought guns as a result of the panic, and they don't have a problem with an AWB. I'm like, seriously? If this were put up to a public vote, say goodbye to scary looking guns and possibly the 2A.

Although not the majority, some of the people I have discussed this topic with are ok with an AWB (with grandfathering) on the logic that they already have their AR-15... That is simply not the point. It needs to be made clear that what what we are fighting for isn't what we have in the safe right now, but what future generations should have the RIGHT to put in theirs. That was the point of the 2nd amendment. None of the members of the first congress or senate would have proposed something like this, but they wrote the 2nd amendment to future-proof the core liberties against this kind of thinking.

RE laughing, relax a bit. They're clearly not firearms owners--and if some of them do own, they're in Rome and acting Roman. Remember the student body kids in high school? These are the same kind of people except older and probably just as ignorant when it comes to firearms.

It's their votes that matter, not their professionalism (or lack thereof).
