Heard someone say it's getting infested with something and the only way to "clean" it is to drain the whole damn thing? That's like 60 miles of shoreline.

Anyone hear anything about this? I couldn't find anything.

Draining Deep Creek to eliminate Hydrilla is preposterous. They lower it 5-6' every fall anyway which would leave the hydrilla high and dry. It is good fish cover too.

The Peedmont News notwithstanding :D, several years ago there was an infestation of zebra mussels at a scuba diving quarry in Haymarket, VA and the state used some sort of chemical solution to kill them. The lake was not drained but it was closed for over a year if my memory serves me. Of course, the diving quarry is nowhere near the size of Deep Creek so maybe different solutions would apply.
