I think we need to get the word out. Once there is a noticable demographic of gun owners in DC, it will be much harder for the DC council to pass "regulation" that tries to make ownership too difficult for many.
Also, the more people trying to own firearms in DC means more people that would sue for violating the RKBA if they are hindered from doing so by unreasonable regulation.
