Nope. Just nope. For the reasons the OP listed.

I would say they did it just to be a billboard for their company name, but even that will be covered with a handguard.

I am sure the guys who spend 2k on a Glock will be all over this. Looks like something they would like

I bet lots of stress was imparted on that barrel.

These AR companies need to put down the crack pipe.

Yeah, that does not look conducive to accuracy.

Even regular fluting could potentially mess up a barrel, but at least there it is supposedly nominal amounts and if done right evenly taken off. Here you just loped off a ton of material on it (even if evenly, but large stress points) and I can see the weight, but thinner walls causing more flex of the barrel under firing/recoil as well as greater sag once it gets hot.

Regular fluting at least has more support through the shapes that are cut (not as much as nothing being cut, but a lot more compared to this abomination). Plus you have significantly more surface area on the barrel for cooling.

This looks like someone took bar stock and center drilled it and put on an extension.

Chad's answer says it all. What you have is not fluting, it is slab siding the barrel.
Fine for ppc pistols, not for rifles. I am sure that to put the SAI logo on the
barrel compressed the bore .0001 - .0002" due to the length of the name that
was used! There is no virtue in having a oval bore! Even if it is not bench rest
quality. At Free State I tested a Rem 700 with the triangular barrel years ago.
I shot at AGC, with Fed Match 168's - groups were 3" and 5"+ with LC ammo.
It was only one rifle, but I got the message. It was the most inaccurate rifle
this gunsmith has ever shot. Dr. Bob
