Any travel plans to the York metro area, :innocent0

Thing is with slower calibers the sights completely cover the target at 200, so shooting it upside down probably helps, although I would be a bit shakey with 1 hand, we have a steel ram around 20X30 at 200, about the same size as Miculek's target if it was sideways. I pick a spot above the target, about 3-4' with a magnum revolver or fast auto caliber, slower calibers work, but need to hold higher, my 45colt vaquero is very accurate, but drops like a rock, around 8-10' or so. At 100yds I can hold at the top of the steel pig about 1/2 the size of the ram and hit it, fast calibers only drop a couple inches, don't really need to holdover much at all.

My private 200yd club range, shoot what you want how you want, provided nobody leaves with more holes in them than they arrived with.

Which reminds me, what u doing sunday...I've got some soda cans that need a'perforatin

Working unfortunately, but off on the 15th, wonder how many tries it would take to hit a golfball at 100 with the buckmark, if anything would do it that pistol would.

I'll bring my sp22m3. If I remember correctly, I did ok with it at the delta woods-walk on those little gong-targets. haha now that I think of it, I'm fairly sure I lit up a gong 7 of 10 times or so with that borrowed sig mosquito. U & me alternating, first one to hit a golf ball off a t with a .22 pistol wins. I should be free the 15th.(unless wifey comes up with something for me to do last minute)

Im really surprized that modt folks think that shooting clays at 100 yards or cole cans is impossible to do.

I got the same reaction from friends of mine who hunt (50ish yard shots with rifles appears to the be a standard range for deer). But steel don't lie.

However this thread has me thinking on the longer ranges for improved precision. I haven't been taking it out past 25 yards for some time now.

    Great thread!

Man..... range envy here... Thats a nice range.

Its perfect for long range handgunning. The dustclouds help a lot in figuring out holdover and gives instand feedback for corrections.

There are YouTube videos of Bob Mundin hitting a balloon at 200 yds with a snub-nose .38 off-hand (2 in barrel) & hitting another balloon at 600 yds with a .44 mag supported by a cardboard box (6 in.barrel).

Go down to your local indoor range and see what the average guy is doing at 7 yards.... Here's a hint... At 100yds a coke can is nothing short of luck for them.

Excuse me, but for MANY "shooters" hitting a man sized target at 7 yards is nothing short of luck.

Sitting at a bench, with a rest, I managed ONCE to hit a space about the size of a small dinner plate with 5 out of 8 rounds from my Colt Combat Commander at 100 yards.

200gr LSWC bullet, about 5 grains of Bullseye powder.

Standing, I was able to hit a water balloon at 100 yards with a 5" barreled S&W Model 27 with a Patridge front sight with a light .38 Special load.

Having been able to do each ONCE, I have not been able to duplicate it. Luck, probably. Chance, probably. Skill probably had a little to do with it.

I have tried taking video of me trying to duplicate it and only get videos of me saying the F word a lot.
