Ms. Purcell confirmed that proxies are permitted with phone notification.

She asked if I would be filing a complaint, as I had for the closed subcommittee meetings.

    Gonna be fun.

    2 minutes goes fast.

Jen P just said they would not accept verbal testimony at the next two meetings due to where they are in the report process. Still will accept written submissions.

Jen P certainly plays fast and loose with the process:

    - appointed TF members can have designees?

    - published agenda items are simply dispensed with without notice?

    WTF

Second speaker (TJ Smith) mentioned that he would get more time for heroin is his pocket than a gun. Thinks laws need to be changed to put bad guys away. Said the perp in his case had a history of prior offenses.

Lorna Sandova (sp?) on the phone. Her brother was 11 when she was 10. Mom on drugs, dad in prison. Member of Black Disciples gang. Brother killed in Chicago? Call is all over the place ... living with her grandmother, then taken into custody of state

First guy asked question from county police on why he came forward. Said he knew the outcome of his life if he didn't stand up.

Now be asked about more police presence in his neighborhood. Said perps have Intel on things like shift change, so that is the time the perps commit crime. Missed the rest.

Andrea Chamblee talking about giving kids activities that prevent gangs from recruiting. Just telling a story about how gang members get started, like being a lookout. But, not all gang members are bad. Spend money on criminals, but not on anything for the children to do. She mentioned basketball as something. Didn't ask a question.

Sure, gun control will fix all of this. :sarcasm:

Another task force member asking Mr. Smith how the county should allocate resources to reduce crime. Said rules only affect law abiding, but need more incarceration, but not made incarceration. Recommends more victim services. Also, things enacted will take awhile to see positive results. Said if you are found with a guy, you'll be out of jail that day, but not if caught with drugs. Need to address the attention to the person or type of person who has a gun. Right on brother!

Patronizing question asked to you man about what kind of psychological help should be offered. He said the state kind of put the pressure on him. Since he came forward, he cannot go back to his family. Said he stayed focused due to school. Recommends victim support, but I think he said States Attorney's office didn't help.

Interesting that the States Attorney wasn't present at the meeting tonight.

Third victim asked what she wished she had help with. Counseling, counseling, brain freeze. Recommends helping mother's cope with the loss of a child.

Her mother did not know how to get her the appropriate help. Wishes she could have helped her mom some more.
