I tried to search and find the answer, but I didn't see any current discussions, so here it is.
Under exemptions for MD Wear and Carry: active, retired or Honorably discharged members of the Armed Forces and National Guard are exempt from the training required to apply for a Wear and Carry Permit. Two questions.

    1. Has anyone successfully used this exemption?
    2. Do you know (or think) it would make the application more likely to be approved if I took the training.

Before anyone gets on a tangent about training, I am going to take the training, but in the current social distancing environment, not having to will allow me to apply sooner.

Taking the training when you’re training exempt will not increase the likelihood of approval. I’d be glad to help if you need a second set of eyes on your G&S reasoning.
When looking for training, be weary of instructors that promise a higher likelihood of approval if you train with them vs others. No instructor can guarantee your approval.
Hope this helps and good luck,

    Greetings All,
Currently applying for Maryland concealed carry permit as a former/retired military member. The application process requires that the member submits Copy 4 of the DD-214 that shows “Honorable” as the character of service and discharge. I initially submitted Copy 1 of the DD-214 and my application was kicked back. Hope this helps.
