Walked into a little gun shop here in Crossville, TN, walked out with a Camillus Aus8 Cuda, KaBar 1233 small hunter, Falcon (Italy) 9” honey horn bayonet blade stiletto AND an old Valor (Japan) Balisong model 527. For $35 whole dollars… (all mint, too!)

    Both Spyderco.
Orange one I carry every day at the day job - small enough to be legal in a Fed Facility.
Yellow one I carry on the boat.
Had Spyderco for years. - love them.
BTW, if you are AD, a Vet, Cop or Fireman Spyderco offers a 50% discount.

The wound looks yugly still. I’ve been practicing closures. I might could do better. Might even involve a cigarette lighter. Looks like it smarted. Hope you had presence of mind to rub some dirt on it.

Looks like you’re minus a third of your bird finger. The top third to be correct.

“Word” was for your tool collection.

Gotcha. Not overly pleased with the way it’s healing. Kinda deformed. I’d rather they had just cut it off further back so the stub was uniform in shape.

Lemme know if you want a “finished” look…they should have left a fold over flap and hopefully addressed the nerve endings.

Damn thing looks like it wants some regular saltwater.

In the Doc's defense, he didn't have much to work with.
It was torn off, de-gloved, not cut off. The skin around the end, what was left of it, was all torn back and jagged.
Ragged meat with just bone protruding - nothing symmetrical about it.

A seagull swopped in as soon as the finger tip hit the water and made off with it so reattaching anything was kinda out of the question.

Yeah. I get it. Some wounds just don’t lend themselves to pretty fixes.

Was you younger, you’d have great stories to tell hawt chicks over adult beverages…

Hope it heals clean if not a lil ugly.

Back to the knives thread…my bad.

PS. One less nail to trim or paint!

I have been very happy with my Spyderco's over the years although they could all use a good sharpening.

You know that the factory will do it free, right? They charge $5 for shipping and that covers up to 4 knives. I send my Endura back every few years.

I knew they sharpened them, I did not know it was for free.

I am pretty good friends with Jimmy of BURRbenders that has a mobile knife sharpening service as well as a brick and mortar store in Edgewater.

I usually take him all the filet knives off the boat and all our kitchen knives every winter and he tunes them up. I'll probably throw my Spydercos in with them this winter as well.

Jimmy does great work, takes good care of me, sends fishing business my way and I try and give him my business as well.

Very cool indeed. My in-laws are in Edgewater and their kitchen knives are usually as dull as Russian literature. I'll have to pass the store info to them.
