I've got a halfway decent Crossman Blaze break barrel rifle that is a few years old. I put it away in the fall and it was fine. When I took it out a couple of days ago, the break action had no resistance at all, so something definitely broke with the piston. Not sure if it's worth saving or if it will cost more than it's worth to have someone look at it. I hate not fixing something that can be fixed. I've never taken an airgun apart, but may give it a go on the grounds that I probably can't make it worse. Any thoughts?

That is a gas piston gun so likely your "gas spring" leaked. Being it is about $120 gun just to ship to anywhere would likely be $30 each way plus parts and labor would be over the cost of a new gun.
Here is the evap from Crosman for your gun

Looks like PA sells the "gas spring" for $49.95
You can call Crosman and tell them the part # of bt9m22-00-5a and they will likely have it cheaper. You can't order parts from Crosman on line, but you can by calling

I took my daughters air arms sporter rifle to Atlantic in silver spring when it failed the trigger weight test at a match. They corrected the issue.

10.9 has a smith in Morgantown WV. They cater to the competitive shooting scene and focus on FWB, Anschutz and Walther airgun. They may be able to assist. If so, we can carry it out and back for you as Claire is generally at WVU for practice twice a week. We live in Frederick.

Pilkington guns http://www.pilkguns.com look is located in TN and may also be able to help.

Claire sends her gun to either 10.9 or elite shooting sports in MT for service. Joe Hein @ESS is a former USAMU shooter and has represented the USA in international competition.

Let me know if I can help

Appreciate the advice... I may try repairing myself as a learning experience. Seems doable if I can get the part.
