I was at Dick’s tonight stocking up on shotgun ammo. So the cashier starts asking why I’m buying so much ammo. I just tell him it’s because it’s cheap. Which it was. Then he starts asking me about what guns I own. I tell him I own a Remington shotgun. Then he says is that it? And I say yes. Because I’m a Scorecard member he has access to my name and address. So should I be worried or am I being paranoid?

You should always be worried giving a stranger any personal information not relevant to the transaction. Maybe a little paranoid too as the guy was probably just making idle chit-chat, but a little paranoia could save you a lot of heartache down the road. Better safe than sorry these days.

I generally don't provide firearm info to strangers ... except you guys ... and those are all at the bottom of the Chesapeake anyway.

You might offer something generic or esoteric. "Eh, I have my grandfather's old 22 he bought from the Sears catalog back in the day, but I really like my GAU-8."

Not familiar with that one? Yeah, I don't shoot that one often because the ammunition is expensive.

    PARANOID in the extreme IMO.

If you had been buying a Redskins sweatshirt he probably would have asked what you thought of Dan Snyder, or the Skins chances next year, or how long have you been a fan.

You can report him to the manager.

Seriously ? Report him for trying to have a conversation and make a connection with a customer ? That's a good way to make someone not give a crap about their job, become surly sullen robot, and strive to do just the absolute bare minimum.

I'd give my left nut to find a cashier that does a little more than simply take my money and slap my change in my hand.

The United Nations has been placing operatives in gun stores to compile a database of all American gun owners, along with detailed lists of all our guns. They intend to confiscate them all after they overthrow Trump.

I thought that was common knowledge.

Remington Gun Club shotshells that are normally $6.30 OTD were $3.88 OTD. And I received $50.00 in Dick’s cash. I can’t reload them for that price.
How did you work the deal to get $40 in dicks cash?

I bought two flats earlier this week and a cashier across the aisle said "are you going to the range?" I walked over and talked to him a bit, nice young kid who said he shoots at freestate.

You never know when your going to get the amateur Jr detective that thinks your ammo buying habits is outside the norm and you might just be the next Vegas shooter and he feels it's his duty to drop a dime to the police. Especially if he can tell them you were bragging about your large cache of weapons if you admit to having more than a couple of single shots, which is way more than a normal sportsman would need.

I bought 11 boxes of shells per transaction to reach the minimum $50.00 purchase and each time the register printed a Dick’s cash coupon. I would’ve used them last night but they’re dated 12/27 forward.

Dude at the Walmart in Bowie asked me that question a bunch of years ago when they still sold ammo. I was buying about 1000 rounds of 9mm and he asked me about what all the ammo was for.

I gave him a blank stare and said, "Haven't you heard that it's happening tonight? It's going to be bad".

Then I took my purchases and left. :D
