For my Savage short-action, I had to trim just a small relief into the mag so it'd fully seat. One of the less obvious differences between the Savage action and the Remington 700.

    View attachment 218748

so about an inch back from the front of the mag? i couldn't get the aics pmags to seat with my aics chassis and from the wear marks i thought i had to thin the feed lips just a bit from where they hit the mag body, but that didn't work. i pretty much trashed a mag trying this but may go back and try to do what you did where you did... i bought 3 accurate metal mags and they seat perfectly.

On an unmolested AICS Pmag, roughly .56" back from the front of the mag is where I had to notch out about .25" of material on both sides to get it to fit.

Picked up 2 new bolt guns the other week.
Savage model 10 6.5 creedmor w 24" threaded heavy barrel vortex 6-18x44 crossfire II.
Remington 700 in .22-250 with the camo stock 26" heavy barrel with a vortex 6-18x44 crossfire II
In the middle is my Remington 700p .300 Win Mag I had put together a few years ago. Put detachable mag assembly on it. Has a bigger bolt knob, I had barrel threaded and muzzle brake put on that works great for recoil but damn is it loud. The brake is a precision armament m11.That one has a vortex viper 6.5 -20 x44 and a 20 MOA rail.
I haven't shot much in a while so I went to buy the .22-250 to give me a reason to go shooting and came home with the 6.5 also. Then I thought all 3 of my bolt guns looked good sitting there next to each other.

I finally get to play in this thread. I posted a thread a while back asking for recommendations on a specific budget https://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=217017. Thanks to those who responded.

Barrel kept at 20" and had it threaded for my AAC mount
    Badger Ordnance bolt knob
    Timney 510 trigger
Magpul 700 stock and bottom "metal".
    Vortex Precision rings
Nikon Black X1000 4-16x50 MOA reticle
Ignore the cheap bi-pod (have a Harris on another rifle I will be using)

Haven't taken her out yet but looking forward to it.

Here's my Cooper Phoenix in 6.5 X 47 Lapua. I'm finding it to be a really fun rig for crop damage duty.

VERY NICE! I'm a lefty and REALLY wanted a Cooper Excalibur but alas they don't make those in lefty. They do make the Backcountry in lefty but more $$$ and definitely a wait to build. Just ordered a Rem Custom Shop 700 around the same price as the Excal but sure it won't be quite the same quality, although nice of course.

Here are my precision bolt guns...

Two Colt M2012 rifles made by Cooper in .308. One has a medium heavy barrel in a laminated stock and topped with a Colt Optics 3-9x scope. The other has a stainless heavy barrel in an aluminum chassis with a Colt Optics 10x scope.
    IMG_7872.jpg

These are two Weatherby Threat Response Rifles...one in .308 with a Leupold 3-9x Tactical scope and the other in .223 topped by a Springfield Armory 4-14x Tactical scope.
    Weatherby_Threat_Response_Rifles.jpg

The last two are a FN Police Patrol Bolt rifle in .308 with a Weaver 3-9 Tactical scope and a Sig SHR970 in .308 with a Millet 4-16x scope.

Thanks! I have a few Coopers but they are pricey and have a long "gestation" period when you order one, that's for sure! Good luck with your Remington Custom order. I just placed an order with the Savage Custom shop for a 6.5-284. Based on the way my other Savages shoot, I don't think I'll be disappointed.

As bad as I want in the bolt gun game.. I don’t feel like driving 3 hours away to shoot. Time to move to the Midwest.

Nice rigs there. I like the ACIS chassis. I hope some day to add one to my collection. Did you build this one yourself?

Also what brand Annealer is that? I’m working on building my own.

The annealer is from annealeez. Normally i would of just built one, but i got this one second hand cheaper than it would of been to make it Overall, i really like it. The only thing i will be changing is adding an arduino and a small touch screen so i can set precise times based on caliber instead of just eyeballing score marks i put on the sheet metal.

As to the rifles, the 223 ai was the only one i fitted/chambered myself. The others were chambered by chad over at LRI.

One day ill convince my wife to let me get a full size lathe...

I lathe would be a nice addition to my home workshop. I always keep my eyes open on Craigs list and Ebay local for some super good deal, and secretly hope I never find one. It seems like I’ve got more projects than I can handle.

Pop into the Reloading thread sometime. Many here are always looking to new ideas and willing to share what we’ve learned too.

 That's impressive sir....The chandler is a total wow factor. Do you have an surgeon actions or rifles made by them? Just wondering, I started a thread on them in rifles but got no reply. They make one hell of a rifle. Have you have felt the action on one or shot one?
