I was driving the wife around shopping this weekend, I parked in a shopping center on Rockville Pike and noticed a sticker on the door of a Goodyear tire store. A handgun x ed out and no weapons allowed on the premises or something to that effect.
Im not a CCW permit holder as is the case with pretty much everyone else in this state but the sticker pissed me off anyway.
I guess its good to know who your enemys are...

    Simple solution.

Don't spend money there and write a letter to the local store and send a copy to Corporate informing them that you WERE going to buy a set of Goodyears but after seeing the sign you bought General's or Bridgestone's

Nothing hurts them more than voting with your dollars.

That's Goodyears Anti-Armed Robbery Policy.....Robbers are not allowed to bring firearms on the property or they will be immediately escorted off the premises. I feel safe now

Goodyear Service Centers = RIP OFF

That’s because Goodyear wants a monopoly on robbery on the premises. Goodyear makes quality tires, but from what I’ve experienced, the stores are total rip offs. I haven’t dealt with them in over 10 years, and here’s why:

Years ago, I took my car in to a Goodyear service center in Beltsville to get a front end alignment only to be told that I needed a bunch of added washers and spacers so they could bring the car’s alignment into specs. The quote I received brought a $49 alignment to about $700. I smelled a fish, so I told them “let me get back to you” and got a second opinion at a local garage. My car needed no additional hardware or labor, and I was out the door for $59.

Thinking that this was an isolated incident, I tried another Goodyear service center, this one in Rockville, a few years later and was told the same thing. :mad54: I was livid to say the least, and told the guy that I’m out of here. I’ve never gone to another Goodyear center ever since, and knowing that they’ve drank the victim disarmament kool-aid  just throws gasoline on the fire.

I went to a shop to get the windshield replaced and they had a sign like that on the door. I asked the manager if she thought a crook would honor it. She replied it was a corporate policy and the staff basically didn't care either way about guns. IF one has a gun and the gun is concealed then how do they know, right? They, the shop staff, were more concerned with someone showing up with a firearm in the passenger section of the car. I never asked her what they would do in that situation, but since CCW is basically not available here and how many of us would drive around with a firearm in the passenger compartment when going to get glass replaced it is a moot point to me.

As for Goodyear stores, I don't visit them anyway.

I wouldnt go there anyway. The wife wanted shoes from the place next door. I have a friend who is a good honest mechanic, owns his shop near by and has great deals on tires too. I doubt he is anti as he did his time as (I believe) an Israeli sniper.

I worked for a company with a no gun at work policy and the chief engineer was also the main snow plow guy. He would plow with one of his handguns in the truck, company vehicle as well. Many of the service techs would take the first day of deer season off and use the company parking lot as a staging area. The company didn't mind any of this. I know if I had walked into the building with a handgun my boss would have asked me to lock it in the car. Others might not have been so lucky with their bosses. There were no signs at any doors, to notify customers, but then again in NY I never saw any "NO handgun" signs except in government buildings.

The wife & I went to the AMC movie theater @ White Marsh yesterday. They have the same signs on thier doors. As we were walking in I said loudly (several people around) "Look Liz, they have a no guns sticker, I guess anyone willing to kill someone will be stoped by that! " it was funny how many people looked at me.

My wife just rolled her eyes since she know I was just hoping to piss off some liberals.

Hm... Wonder if those signs are new. I won't be stopping by though and have no problem calling the manager and telling him he's discriminating against cops that are required to carry.

They are on the bottom of the doors, pic of a J frame with a line through it. Under it the words "no weapons"

If you called I'll bet he would tell you that it does not apply ot LEO's.

I just find it comical that with all the problems that White Marsh is having they think these signs will help anything.

I talked to a LEO who is a pilot for Baltimore County and he was commenting one the number of calls they have been getting in the area. They already have signs about rounding up kids and holding them until thier parents can be contacted if they are there at night by themselves. Amazing how problems follow bus routes.

these types of signs appeared in some stores very shortly after the passage of CCW laws in NC where i'm from. guess which stores got robbed and which ones didnt? well, if you guessed that one, guess how long it took for the "no gun" signs to come down......

Not that amazing but expected. A state police friend of mine calls the monorail(whatever it's called) going to Owings Mills from downtown "the crime line".
