google is your friend, I am not.
I am pretty sure (99.9%) that the "ongoing national survey since 2007" cited by Rodricks is the one done by the Violence Policy Center VPC aka Josh "assault weapon" Sugarmann's anti-gun lobby group.

Rodricks failed to name the source, well, because VPC is about as biased as it gets. Lott has extensively debunked this list.

If you click on the map, you can see the list by state. Among the gems: Washington DC includes the 13 killed by the navy yard shooter because he had a permit from Texas.

And the MD list (http://concealedcarrykillers.org/maryland/) includes Charles Edward “Pete” Richter, a former Baltimore police offer with an exceptionally rare MD permit to carry- who killed his neighbor and was charged with child porn.

Only the police should have a permit to carry. Or something.

Overall, the number 1119 since 2007 (10 years) is probably true, but its an incredibly small percent of the millions of permits.

My takeaway from this list of anecdotes is that mental health reporting sucks.

Just bc someone has a CCW license and goes on to shoot someone outside of a self defense related incident doesn't automatically make the fact that the shooter holds a license the root cause of the shooting.

If someone is willing to commit a crime then they will, licensed or not.

Also what about the holder of a CCW who does go on a shooting spree but the guns he uses have nothing to do with his permit? For example the Washington Navy Yard shooter initially used a shotgun and then a pistol which he had stolen from one of his victims he shot. Neither related to CCW.
