That would be a transfer. You would need a place to secure your collection out of state wether with a relative or other secure location.

I should have clarified. I meant someone you know, (friend or family member) that could legally own guns. So, that could be done and you could tell the Gestapo in MD that's what you did?

“Did you really think that we want those laws to be observed?” said Dr. Ferris. “We want them broken. You’d better get it straight that it’s not a bunch of boy scouts you’re up against—then you’ll know that this is not the age for beautiful gestures. We’re after power and we mean it. You fellows were pikers, but we know the real trick, and you’d better get wise to it. There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What’s there it that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted—and you create a nation of lawbreakers—and then you cash in on guilt. Now that’s the system, Mr. Rearden, that’s the game, and once you understand it, you’ll be much easier to deal with.”

If I owned a range in PA or VA I would be building a very, very large vault to store MD guns for people. We could rent space until we moved. The law says possession, not ownership.

If an unconstitutional law is passed, then, do we worry aboutn"legal" ways to hide your property? I think not? No matter, i lost all my guns during a sailing trip....they are on the bottom of the Atlantic...:innocent0

I have precisely ZERO intention of complying with this law, should it pass. None whatsoever.

No one else should, either. Laws be damned. You are under no obligation whatsoever to obey an unConstitutional law.

If I am to be legislated into being a criminal, then so be it, I shall be a criminal then.

Being a felon will not stop me from owning a gun any more than it stops the hundreds of thousands (millions?) of other felons who possess a gun. I will always be able to buy, barter, trade or even build from scratch, a firearm of some sort. Nothing short of locking me in a room and throwing the room away will be able to stop me. And there aren't enough rooms to lock people like me away in anyway, and they can't afford to build more.

    So there ya go.

I'll be moving soon if this comes to pass, but in the meantime, I won't be complying with any new laws.

So if the worst comes to pass, and modern semi-automatic rifles are banned; either from further future procurement instate; or even more importantly - a ban against current possession:

    1. Would a Maryland resident be able to move their now "banned" weapon(s) out of state for storage?

-and if the banned weapons were moved out of state:

    2. Would a Maryland resident still have to register -or- submit to confiscation of the weapons; since they have not been transferred from their ownership; even though the banned weapons are not located physically within the state of Maryland?

we'll have to wait and see what they try. I'm surprised they are trying anything given our high rating by the brady campaign.

there still is the issue of concealed carry in MD. We have to see what happens with that.

I would not worry too much, as long a other states still allow guns you can probably find a loop hole.

The NY law is very concerning though. I can't see how that passed. I hope AWB laws get to the supreme court. We already have hand guns protected.

If we get to court I hope jury nullification will happen a lot. That would be pretty funny to see the politicians saying we're guilty, but juries just finding everyone not guilty.

Fellow MD Residents and Gun Owners,

I have read this thread from start to finish and wish to post a few points. First off, do not EVEN think that something cannot happen here that is unconstitutionally wrong. It can and it may very well happen. What we have just seen happen to our brothers in arms in New York should be all the proof you need. And even if it does not happen, and let us hope not, to not have EVERY single base covered is just plain ridiculous. You must be ready for the worse, prepared for the worse and hope for the best.

I am appalled that, as I see it, I MIGHT be able to retain my FireArms if I am willing to adhere torediculous regulations and massive constraints, but yet at my Death I will be unable to leave my FireArms collection to my son, or grandchild, UNLESS, they were to live out of the State of Maryland. The thought of this enrages me, yet that is how I see it coming down.

I will not surrender my weapons under any circumstances. As a resident of Maryland for over 50 years, I am adamant that I will move out of this state should these unconstitutional laws be enacted. My friend and I are already looking to find a few acres in West VA, or VA and place his 32 Foot Trailer on it. If that is what we must do to protect our rights, then so be it.

Please, Prepare and then Prepare some more. Besides the Lawmakers, think about the future availability of Parts , Accessories and Ammo. Sure, springs, selector switches, followers, sights, optics etc. etc. will all still be legal. But who will be around to manufacturer them? Who will be around to sell them? Many companies that are here today will not be able to survive when 50% of the product they manufacture will become illegal or they will have no market to sell their wares. Stock up on the things you need to Shoot and Maintain your weapons now. And remember, even if things turn out a bit better then we are expecting, prices are still going to rise and stay high. Get what you need NOW at a reasonable price now. (Magazines probably excluded, if you do not have enough magazines by now, I do feel for you as that ship has sailed.)

Last but not least. DO NOT GIVE UP. Go to Annapolis this Saturday Jan 19th and any other date of a well sponsored March or Demonstration. Bring the family and friends. Be like the President and bring your children and hug them for the media (Only difference is that you will mean it!) Do not think that "Well there will be plenty of MD Gun Owners there, me staying home won't matter!" IT DOES MATTER. We must unite and be stronger then ever. Write and EMAIL the Senators, Congressman, State Delegates, Mayors and most important right now, the Governor. Please folks, we have one shot at preserving our 2nd Amendment Rights. Do not waste that opportunity.

To find out how to Email and Contact your Elected Representative go to
http://mdelect.net and you can find all the information you need with one click. Pass this around and please JUST DO IT!!

OK, I will end my Mini-Rant. I am passionate about this situation (can you tell?). It scares me to death. And I will not be one of the ones sitting around at the "Maryland Old Gun Owners Home" wishing I had another chance to try harder to save our Gun Rights. The time is NOW!!.

I Thank You For Your Time,

    PO'd in Germantown ! :mad54:

NOTE: I am not joking when I say this. When Australia banned most semi auto rifles a funny thing happened. You could not find any large diameter PVC Pipe with End Caps anywhere in the country. Say 10-12 Inches in diameter. So, think about these things in advance. You may want to have those Plumbing Supplies on hand, you just never know when this state may spring a leak!!

Not that it helps any of your guys really, but I have room in my safe for storage if you don't mind it being in FL.

Again, not that it helps - but thought I'd offer.

Maryland keeps records of what you've bought on the 77R.

I have direct experience in going to the Jessup State Police barracks and having a list of handguns I've purchased in Maryland brought up on a computer screen and read out to me. The officer didn't read off any long guns or others I bought cash and carry.

What he told me is, the FEDS are forbidden by specific law from keeping NICS check data, no so for the states.

So they will know what you own and can ask you about this, but you are not required by law in MD to keep records of what you sold or to whom.

Your plan is sound to a degree, I'm hearing people talking about this in other areas, I know people in California who did this during the bans of the 1990s. The ones who had money kept their banned guns in NV, OR, or AZ.

I leave 2 of my shotguns locked up in PA all the time at our second home. I only use them for shooting sporting clays so don't bother transporting them back and forth. There's room in the safe for anything I've got here in MD so away they may go
