I've only used that 'rate a thread' a few times, just tried it again, and its only the entire thread, not a specific post.
It's a good suggestion. I'd 'like' your post if that were an option.

There is already too much fanboyism and cult of personality around here and we are not going to become Facebook to create some middle school caste system of who gets more likes than someone else.
It completely stifles legitimate dissent and discourages new members from jumping in, and again there's already too much of it.
