So I've been on this forum a couple of months, but have yet to actually introduce myself.

I'm originally from Montgomery County, but I left 10 years ago when I became a Marine. I unfortunately moved back this year to get divorced and try to recover financially from the debt that we split.

It's sad to say, but I don't feel any nostalgia being back here. Obviously the gun laws suck, but taxes are high, there are speed traps everywhere, housing costs are ridiculous, and the horrible traffic just seems to have gotten exponentially worse since I left. The only thing I will say I like is that I can get historic plates for my car since it just turned 20 years old, so no more emissions!

As for guns, I left all of my handguns back in Utah, and only brought a gen 3 glock slide and my un-regulated long guns because I refuse to register any firearms. This pretty much means that my gun hobby is on hiatus while I'm living here :(

As of now, I plan on living in the area for 2-4 years, which should be enough time for me to finish my degree, pay off my divorce debt, build a nest egg/down payment fund, and gain a transferable skill-set from my career which I can take back to the United States (see what I did there:smoke:).

I just want to live in a world where a gay transsexual couple can defend their marijuana farm with their ARs before they head off to their abortion appointment while carrying a concealed weapon. Unfortunately the crown of MD seems to want to regulate every aspect of it's subjects lives.

Sorry for the thread derail OP, I don't think that's accurate. A friend of mine just got historic tags for a 96 Mazda truck last month.
    Welcome!

Well ok, but at this point, that would be a bit like Stormy Daniels giving an introduction.

Don’t scare me like that! I have a 98 BMW M3 that I plan to get historic tags for as soon as I get a cheap daily driver so the M3 can switch to weekend duty.

And you are not permitted to drive your historically tagged vehicle to work. Add that to speed traps, taxes, etc.

    From the MVA web page:
A vehicle registered as historic cannot be used for general daily transportation, or primarily for the transportation of passengers or property on highways. It can only be used in exhibitions, club activities, parades, tours, occasional transportation and similar uses. A trailer does not qualify for historic registration. They will not be used for employment, transportation to and from employment or school, or for commercial purposes.
