The seller info and the new box is only checked when you buy a new firearm outside DC and have it shipped to the only FFL in DC, Charles Sykes, at the CWS exchange, located in MPDC HQ at 300 Indiana Ave.

    http://www.cwsxchange.com/

Or if a DC resident buys a long gun from any LGS FFL in VA, MD, or elsewhere. Only reason a DC resident should be using Sykes is for hand gun transfers, unless they enjoy unnecessarily setting money on fire.

Lol I am sitting here at 300 Indiana Ave and heard him talking to you.

Pity a repeat applicant gets treated the same as a new one

I have my Maryland W&C permit and my DD-214. Does this exempt me from any portions of the D.C. permit process?

It's not automatic. They say each case is judged on it's own merit. True to form, DC will not publish a list of other training that will automatically exempt you from the 16 hour training. The MD course because of it's length is probably better than anything else you could submit however. DC MAY require the class within the past 2 years. Kind of unclear if this requirement is required to request the training exemption

You still are required to take the 2 hour DC law class.

It's part of their "we're special" mentality they continue to cling to even in light of Wrenn.

You may potentially be exempt from the 14-hour training requirement, though there is no exemption from the 2-hour DC law class. If the MD training was done within the last two years, you should be good to go.
    Submit any qualifications you have.

I was exempt from any training because of having been in the military. How does this factor in with D.C. permit?

yes they do but no one gets out of the Army under Honorable conditions without basic weapons training.

That requirement is ridiculous especially given the fact that several of us got weapons training but it's not on our DD214's.

I'm not gonna reenlist just to get it added.

From what I hear of what basic is like today, us geriatrics can probably knock it out without breaking a sweat.

That said, over the years, the military has changed the information and format of the DD214 document. Some that I have seen do not even list all of your decorations let alone what kind of training you had. :sad20:

There's also a question of them not accepting non-DC approved trainers; although the statute obviously implies non-residents can apply for the exemption with a "qualified" trainer. What or who they consider qualified may depend on which day of the week it is.
