If you applied for the homestead credit then at 10% they should be limiting your increase. You would have had to apply when you purchased the house.

At least in Frederick City, you can apply for the homestead credit at any time. We applied the other year and it shows on the tax assessment page of the state's assessment website.

The credit application might be applicable at every assessment. I haven't read up on that portion since we have been in that program for a long time. Really is ridiculous you have to submit some sort of paperwork. Should be a standing credit for everyone. They want to get those who have more than one house.

Here is the application site for those who have recently purchased a house:

More people = more emergency services, more trash pickup, more stress on infrastructure, etc.

It is reasonable...to me and $57 more per month isn't going to bankrupt anybody.

...and more people creates more money to pay for those services. No need to tax the rest of us again. I'm not seeing how higher taxes is a good answer to anything. If anything, the bigger pot (of people) should REDUCE taxes for everyone. Not everyone will need emergency services, and most people in this county pay for their own trash. Just like insurance...everyone pays in, few get paid out.

Yep, mine is now up to over $5300.

Mine too. I have to pay rent on a property I am supposed to own. Not cheap rent, either. It's outrageous, and most people don't care because they don't have to stroke a check for it. They're isolated from it because it comes out of Escrow.

They're isolated from it because it comes out of Escrow.

And they pay more because of it. Interest on the debt and increased tax penalty for not paying it all in one shot in July. My wife wanted to roll taxes and insurance into the mortgage and I showed her the difference in cost if we just made sure we saved it each month vs. giving it to the mortgage company. We put the extra into our kids 529.

Like anything in government, the larger the pot of money available, the more the politicians will spend ... I mean waste. Doesn’t really matter who is in power, the objective is to make a bigger pot and have the power to spend what’s in the pot!

Yep got mine.... and it's ^^^^ not down, for what I don't know,..wait
I know why, the crackerbox houses are coming up the hill..there goes
the neighborhood ...the ones with the rippled siding...when it get hot.
Let's see we take farm land that has a different tax base, convert it
to Condo's, Crackerbox houses, which generate more taxes because
of being residental, but taxes keep going up, the roads sucks, infrastructure
doesn't handle the needs, "planned development" ...yeah right, been to
enough meetings in the past about it, seen "flood plans" in the past where
no houses or homes could be built on them, guess what there are houses
there now, but the original land owner couldn't build on it....amazing or
right of way was given for one sole purpose, and was not followed only
to this day has it been used for whats intended.... Gotta love Frederick
been here all my life, grew up on a farm / hunted on that farm.. I know that's
progress..... the only thing keeping me here is my dad, lost my mom 18 months
ago.... other than that... Frederick is a extension of MoCo.. that's all...
