    Or a Sig 229

Skip the DAK model unless you like triggers with 3 miles of travel...

I'm personally interested in your top 2 listed. However, if you're planning on home defense, you may want to stick with glocks; their grip angle is different so natural point of aim will be off. I can shoot them well with serious focus but it throws me off compared to my USPC.

OP should also consider a S&W 5906 if you want to go Reservoir Dogs on somebody's ash.

Also, a Ruger P89 is a good, solid and low price alternative to the higher price modern marvels.

And if you don't have a C&R, my suggestions are a good reason to get one.

Go for something like a sig p365 to fill a different need. I'd hit different types of purposes before doubling up on a gun for a similar use. If you want a service-sized pistol, make sure to check out walthers. I've had a P99AS for years that continues to be reliable and tack-driving accurate. The PPQ is the new hotness there, although I'd prefer to keep the paddle mag release because I really really like it.

I recently went through the same decision process. I ended up getting the SW M&P M2.0 compact based on many reviews. Now if MD would only let me carry....

Those can be factors in a Museum Curator petitioning the ATF for inclusion , but are not automatic on their face .

Early M39 would be eligible by age , but they are attracting collector interest in recent years .

I really like my CZ P01; Browning HP too - even bought a second one because, you know, they aren't making them any more. (Both T-series; one has been "sanitised" with a low-information slide, but shoots like a dream anyway.)

Beyond that, just got an ex-military Swiss Sig P210. Been too nasty to take it to the range, but I'm reliably informed that I will be thrilled.

Lots of good choices...can't go wrong with the Sig 226 or 229...great pistols. The Browning Hi Power is awesome and classic but will be heading for collectible status and pricing since they've been discontinued...but there are many inexpensive clones out there. The S&W Models 39 and 59 may be worth a look...they're coming into their own. A Heckler & Koch USP 9mm is a very worthy pistol...I have one in .45 and it's hard to beat though a somewhat big pistol.

Whatever you buy...post pics...everyone here loves good gun porn.

My last choice was to get:

SIG P365 - great fun, sub compact, that is actually fun to shoot.

SIG M17 - Basically a P320 with a manual safety, but the next US military handgun. I have enjoyed mine a lot. Enough so, I also bought the CO2 Pellet version (review in Air Guns) for playing around the yard.

    Hey shooters,

Have a really old/drawn out question for the community but just want to hear opinions from this forum.

Basically in the market for another 9mm semi-auto pistol. Main purpose is HD and range fun, 9mm because of ammo commonality with my other weapons (I stock 5.56 and 9mm only). I already have a Glock 19 which is a duty/main pistol so no need to suggest Glock.

    Looking at the following options:

    CZ P-10c
    SW M&P2.0c
    FN 509
    or any other suggestions.

Main concerns are reliability, shootability, and just plain fun. Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to get another gun tbh...so, let's open the flood gates for some healthy debate!

    Thanks!

Glock 19. Works that same as your duty weapon.

I’ll second the USP recommendation. I love my USP 45, it fits my hand perfectly. I also recommend the HK P30. It’s what I carry at home and when I finally pull the trigger and get a carry permit (for a different state obviously) it will be my carry gun when I travel.

I have most if not all my handgun needs met and so far am refusing to go the HQL route. However if I were going to get a new 9 it would be the Sig 365.

Atlantic Guns in Silver Spring posted an H&K P7M8 for $1495, which is actually a really good price. (I haven't examined it in hand. No financial interest. If I had the money I'd buy it, though I like the PSP-style mag release better.)

I'm starting to feel bad about posting this. I have to keep looking at my bank statement to calm down; it keeps stating "No, Bob, give it up."

SO, thinking more, the best 9mm semi-auto pistol for a G19 owner, probably a 9mm AR /GLOCK mag lower pistol, build it or buy it. Takes mags and ammo you already have, can shoot it just about anywhere you can shoot your G19, and IMO it is the most fun way to throw 9mm slugs down range. If reliable with duty ammo they are awesome for HD, pretty much checks every box. There was an industry wide "learning curve" to produce reliable AR9s, but there are quite a few out now, not sure how many can be had in MD assembled as a "pistol" with the roster and all, but most all of them can be bought as a stripped or assembled lower with brace, and then topped with a matching upper.

Thanks for all the responses! I've actually had gone to the range and shot many of the options, though I think I have a few new suggestions from the responses lol. All have points that I like and I don't like/can be overcome with training.

Basically I'm really just looking for an excuse to get another gun (you can never have too many!)-not really any purpose other than to run/train, then run some more. I just want to see the options before investing the funds. If I had my way I would get them all haha. I do like a degree of practicality in terms of capacity/functional and for me that means polymer/wonder 9s.

I have a upgraded CZ75B SA which is really my pure fun gun and I use the M9 enough at work and I just think metal guns are solid but really bulky. That's why I lean towards polymer.

    Decisions decisions...

If you already have a CZ 75 SAO,:thumbsup:

I don't think it's on the MD handgun roster yet(?) but the new polymer pistol that looks interesting (not necessarily better) is the IWI Masada. Reasonably priced, too (under $500).
