I had a close friend who just died. I asked his son for his 38spl. He agreed that i could have it for $100. The gun is in the name of My Friend. What must i do to comply with all md laws. I have a valid Md HQL. I was told i could go to either the State police or an FFL. Will i need any official paperwork when i do?

You might want to make sure that your friend's son has fully and legally has possession of the pistol.

Best would be to talk to executor or an estate lawyer.

Nothing like suggesting that people break the law. So if they get caught, they lose their 2A rights.

And if the son is not the executor or someone else is named to get that pistol.......
