Out of curiosity, can you eat fish caught out of the Potomac? I used to fish there with a friend and eat everything that was of a decent size. But I very recently saw a fishing video with a bunch of dead fish periodically floating by and in the comments section someone said the Potomac was full of bacteria now and probably not safe to eat fish out of. That would be a shame, it was a great fishery.

I would from above DC, I would from the mouth at the bay. In and near DC? Not so much.

    What you running? I have a 2000 Javelin Renegade 20 w/2008 200HO Erude

They are very good eating and a fish fry from the lower end once in a while won't hurt a thing.

Should be obvious, look at my screen name:)

When its spring spawning time around Fletcher Boathouse I'll keep white perch and rockfish that have made their way up the river. I will not eat anything that spends its time year round in the DC area of the Potomac.

April 14 or 15 trip to Susquehanna (below dam) for Shad run. Assuming that start by then. I usually start at the mouth of Deer Creek and move from there. It'll be an early morning run and I plan to fly/spin fish them.

    Anyone interested?

    Hey

I'm in for fishing. Sign me up for a charter on the bay.
Also I'm in for floating the Potomac.
I've fished lots from Brunswick to Nolands Ferry.

    Yoshi,
Depending on work I would love to go hit some early shad. Haven't done it in a looong time.
