Though our doc has never asked I would have no problem lying about it if any I saw ever did. I have told my family members to do the same,

That's what I do already, it's not like I'm giving sworn testimony under threat of perjury. The day we are prosecuted and imprisoned for lying to a doctor is the day I say "screw modern medicine" and seek out some kind of old-school folk remedy for my ills.

Currently I'm not too worried about getting denied care. One of my docs has a small 3 room home office in which they keep a loaded handgun in 2 of them. I've handled both of them and recently stopped by without an appointment to show them a new acquisition. No chart notations for me

Did he said he was your Huckleberry?

Bring it. I can take it :)

In all seriousness though...... After doc muzzle swept me several times while I was sitting on the exam table we had a talk about gun safety, and I showed him what I carry on my key ring and the story behind it.

    ^^THIS. There's all this angst over the issue but many more important things to worry about. If faced with the question of gun ownership you are free to;
    --tell the truth
-state your opinion of whether it's his/her business or not
--say "no" and get on with the encounter
--get another provider; there's always choices with every insurance

    Really easy.

    Really easy.

Until it becomes a matter of law that completely filing-out the survey is required, and the insurance providers can decline payment on incomplete surveys.

The initial crapfest was all about an individual being denied healthcare for declining to discuss Constitutionally-protected activities - specifically 2nd Amendment. Should you be denied helathcare because you have alcohol in your home?(21A) How about being denied healthcare because you post comments on a website discussing conservative politics?(1A)

    Don't give an inch, dammit.

I am waiting to be asked that question because it will be the basis for a long discussion on comparing the Dr's qualifications regarding firearms vs my qualifications regarding medicine.

I have appointments frequently, too frequently, and am waiting for one of the Dr's to initiate the discourse until then I'll let it lie.

If the Dr's spent as much time on the range as I spend in Dr's offices they would all be great shots.

You know you could report the doc to the state medical board if he ask about any weapons in the house.. He does NOT NEED TO KNOW! unless he wants to get into owning a weapon and target shooting himself.. I would tell him about MSI and then shut up if he ask do you have any weapons in the home..

Dumb. Seriously. The medical board will think you are an idiot because they advocate asking.

People whine about freedoms until they don't like it. In MY business I can ask about anything I want. It's called the First Amendent. If you can't understand that, then you can't even begin to talk about the Second Amendment. Just say "no" and be done with it. Once you legislate restrictions on one Right it won't stop. People need to get smarter about this. With freedom comes things you won't like. Suck it up. This isn't a personal attack. I do understand where you are coming from and don't like the gun question. You can't advocate for a smaller, weaker government if you cheer when the government steps in when you don't like someone's words. This is no different than a safe space.
