    This looks pretty neat to me (though the MSRP seems a bit high) - I ass-u-me it would be MD legal. They have 300BLK kits for it too.

    With the barrel removed, it makes the package smaller, so it's easier to keep the whole rifle in a backpack. As long as it keeps zero, I'd be fine with this.

    Based on what I'm seeing in that pic, you're saving about 5 inches over removing the upper from the lower.

    Did I miss something?

    Can't fix stupid.

    If they wanted a cool setup they should have used a folder hinge, a Ranier Q.D. Rail, and a D.I. Gas System with a pinned SLR click adjustable gas block at the mid length. For a nice touch a fixed FSB to make it a Midipator.
