    I should have added the question is for catch and release only. I don't think anyone would use barbless if they were planning on keeping the fish.

    Smallmouth Bass fishing on the Potomac from Paw Paw to Little Orleans. Kept a few for the stringer but went barbless just to make it easier. By the time we pulled out at Little Orleans the next day, we had caught about 150 fish each. Got tired of reeling in the little SOB's

    I target mostly white perch and croaker and they can easily throw a hook with no barb. I haven't had any problems removing the hook and releasing the fish if it is too small additionally, I haven't had a fish swallow a hook in years.
