Looking for BUIS for my paper puncher AR Bushmaster.
Flat top upper with picetany rail gas block to mont front sights.
Where is a good place to buy inexpensive(cheap) back up sights to go with my Aim Point red dot.
I do have a carry handle rear sight that could be used. But would like to add fold down sights if affordable.

Does anyone sell a front and rear sight combo for under $100.00?
Guess I'm kinda in sticker shock in looking for back up sights.

The problem with magpuls is that they're not meant to be put on Picatinny front gas blocks, both because they're not the right height, but also because of the heat at that spot.

I'm using a Matech on the rear. Fantastic site for the price.

Buy them on arfcom all day long for $35.

I am old school ...i want metal and it has to be troy or maetech. I trust Clandestine when he says magpuls are as good but... plastic sights are not for me. YMMV....

    Magpuls melt!

thats one reason i dont like them. sure they can take a drop but i still hate them. the ones i had couldnt to get me any accuracy. i switched to ARMS and MaTech, and never had a problem. i have nothing against plastic, i just hate how big and bulky the magpuls are.

Ditto. I understand the polymer Magpuls are more elastic during certain impact scenarios but I really don't like their rear aperture.

My vote is for the LWRC Skirmish sights.

The only BUIS I would warn about are ARMS 71 polymer BUIS. The rear has an annoying tendency to flip the aperture forward when deploying. This is a shame, since they're otherwise fantastic. I leave them mounted on my .22LR upper, so I still get use out of them.

MBUS are better in that they don't have the aperture deployment problem (and also have a better latch, IMHO), but as others have mentioned, they're rather bulky. I would consider them durable enough for reliable defensive usage.

The Troy BUIS are quite good and my favorite, but you pay dearly for them, and to be blunt, I'm not sure they're worth it on a range rifle. The YHMs are a slight step down, but I still like mine. Never used the Matech, but they're first on the list the next time I need a rear BUIS only.
