Not sure if this is the right place, but I was wondering what folks who have supplemental firearms insurance (over and above homeowners) do for this sort of protection? Thanks.

I use collectible insurance agency. A little pricey but good coverage (hopefully).

How does gun insurance work? For instance, if you own a pre 2013 cheap PSA pencil barreled AR rifle and it gets destroyed in a fire. You obviously can't replace it and the value to you is more than it cost since you can't buy another. Can you insure a banned gun in Maryland?

Are you getting a discount price. I just did the quote for $25k in firearms and it gave me a yearly quote for $375.

That’s insane. I just looked at my last renewal and it was $110. I renewed in October 2019. I’ve had a policy with them for 4 years. Not sure why you’re getting such a high quote.

As you say, it maybe a location adjustment VA vs. Montgomery County MD.

I do through USAA. I think it cost me on average of $13 extra a month for full replacement coverage. It's not Firearms Insurance per say it's just supplemental coverage for certain items. It's the same sort of insurance you would use to cover heirlooms like Grandma silver or jewelry. You have to disclose what you're insuring obviously

My only issue with going through Allstate is that they will know about my collection and may increase the cost of liability coverage at some point - you know, guns are dangerous and hurt people all on their own.

Disclosure of what I have is why I've never pursued this
