I'm master certified and factory trained on them. What would you like to know or can I help you with?

Well, I am looking for a daily driver for my wife. If Benz sold the current 4-banger diesel in a C-class body with a stick-shift I would just write them a check, but they don't.
It has been a while since they have offered a CDI in the C-class body, so it would have to be an E. In your experience from the tech side, which of the CDI versions since about 2008/2009 are the ones to buy and which are the ones to stay away from if the job is to survive about 40k miles per year, some of it district of columbia roadways (I know, that last criterion puts a HMMWV pretty high on the list).

C-class diesel never made it to the USA. Supposedly they are coming but I've been hearing that for years.

As for the CDI they are great. All my customers who have them swear by them. They are a v6 diesel not a 4 cylinder. Great power and fuel economy. If you can find an 08-09 before they introduced the "urea injection" it will be a little cheaper to maintain.

As for cost if serviced by me (figure 30-50% more at a dealership):
Service every 10k miles. Alternates between "A" and "B" service
    "A" is $165
    "B" is $335
Fuel filter every 20k miles approx~$200
Airfilters every 40k miles approx~$200 depending on model
Transmission service every 40k miles $380

I'd say you are looking at a little over $2k per year in upkeep and maintenance including tires and brakes, but at 40k miles per year thats not too bad considering the fuel economy, luxury, and safety the car provides.

    Your welcome JT :) ...

Say do you do Pre-purchase inspections for MB cars? How about Maryland State inspection? Just in case a potential buyer asks I can send them your way. If you (or anyone else) know anyone interested here is a link to my nicely modded SL55 AMG on craigslist. Please have a look and pass to anyone interested. thanks.

Yes I provide a comprehensive PPI service to persons buying a used Mercedes, or any car for that matter. I do not hold a current MD state inspectors license, but I did for approx 5 years. I can't therefore do a state inspection, but I can look it over and tell you with 100% certainty if it will pass or fail and for what reasons, Then facilitate repairs as necessary.

Offtopic...I ran the used car department at a local Mercedes dealer for 5-6 years. My job was to make the cars (trade-ins, auction, etc...) mechanically new again and to perform all CPO checks and repairs as necessary. This included a thorough body/paint/chassis/suspension inspection to check for evidence of body repairs that would cause issues to the customer down the road. Carfax is the biggest scam I've seen. Don't rely on it. Alot of people don't understand the value of the PPI service unfortunately.

Back on topic again...Nice SL and good luck with the sale!

Well you can add me to the long list of happy customers of Mercedes Specialist! It was time for my A service on my 2011 E550 4MATIC, so based on this thread, I decided to give Justin a call to setup an appointment. I'm a PG resident, unfortunately, so it was a bit of a hike to Randallstown, but it was well worth it to me for the level of service and detail that was provided.

There where a few additional issues I asked him to look over, and he was able to diagnose along with giving honest feedback. I'll be taking my E550 back next week to have the engine mounts replaced along with the transmission service. Looking forward to the improved ride comfort and knowing the condition of the transmission, since I don't know the past history. Can you PM me a price of the drivers side visor (or cost to replace the mirror please)

Highly recommend his services, and will send those I can your way.

    Thanks again!

    Bumping this:

So 2014 was a great year for my business Mercedes Specialists. I have created a very successful business model that is working well and is providing a very high level of personalized, fast, efficient, and cost effective service to my customers. With that being said, its time to expand and grow our operation...

Starting Feb 1 2015 Mercedes Specialists is expanding our services to ALL MAKES and MODELS, not just Mercedes-Benz. We have partnered up with 140 Automotive in Westminster MD. Jason is a great guy who runs a very successful shop and is highly skilled and very knowledgeable. He has factory Lexus/Toyota training, but can fix anything with an engine. We share the same mindset of customer driven, honest, high quality, great value service. The shop is very clean and equipped with state of the art equipment. Mercedes Specialists will provide basic maintenance (oil changes, maintenance services, brakes, spark plugs, fluid changes, etc...) on ANY MAKE and MODEL of vehicle.

Our Randallstown location is still in use and available if that is location is more convenient to the customer.

Thank you to all our current customers and I look forward to gaining many new customers in the Westminster area and a very successful 2015!

I can be reached at 410-635-0265 or by email benzspecialists@gmail.com

w00t! I may need some help troubleshooting what Pepboys broke. Though I think it's the OVP and I have some cubes laying around so I'm just going to swap them in and out until one works or doesn't.

OVP would make sense with charging issues.....

Ended up being a 50c 10amp blade fuse. Pepboys is paying for it though...and paying through the nose.

Glad things are going well with the business JT!

JT-what do you think of the 1998-1999 E300 TD, 6 cyl DOHC intercooler turbo. A member I met here recently bought one, garage kept by the looks of it. Super clean. He seems to know a thing or 2 about cars and says these will go 300K+ easily. And that it actually has passing power. Easy and fairly cheap to work on. I really liked the car. They seem to be all over the board price wise on ebay.

I'll add my A.O.K. for Justin's work. He did the service on my Mercedes and let me watch
:-) He certainly was through!!! At about half the price of the dealer. I plan on going back again.

    JT-

Glad to see you're close enough to me and will drop you a note. I've got an '04 E55 AMG with an annoying intermittent problem that might be COMAND related but not sure. I plugged in my SDS but nothing obvious presented itself. I reset the optical ring just in case and that didn't fix it either.

I would like to add additional kudos for Justin and MBS for the above and beyond level of service he provides for his customers. I live in PG County, unfortunately, but never hesitate to make the hour plus drive one way to see Justin when my 2011 E550 4MATIC needs work done. If I have an issue, he is literally only a text message away offering great advice.

Most recent work he performed for me was replacing my left rear airmatic suspension for a fraction of what the dealer wanted to charge, and I guarantee you the level of detail shown during the work puts the dealer to shame. I can truly say, despite my lack of automotive knowledge, when Justin tells me what's wrong, there's never a thought in my mind that he is just trying to bump up the ticket total, but that he has my best interest at heart for the best experience.

Keep up the good work Justin and i still need to make time to come up so you can check my ride height and alignment when possible.
