I am just amazed and bewildered... just got through checking my AR15. Back into the safe now. And just was sitting here thinking.

...all of this legislation ongoing in Maryland; pertinent to banning "assault" weapons. I did 21 years in the Army and am totally comfortable with the use of my AR, and see no difference between it and my other rifles; whether semi or bolt action. It just shoots bullets, like the rest of them.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here; but just wanted to type my thoughts anyway.

Sorry for rambling here but the whole gun control movement against AR's and other "copycat" weapons just seems like I'm in another dimension. They're just rifles. Not the devil incarnate.

Man, times are changing... aren't they?

    Times are changing.
What are we going to REALLY do about it??
We all sit here and listen live the other night as they giggle, laugh and joke as people WE voted in to office rape us of our rights.

When, not IF our guns are either taken away or forced into paperweights what are we going to do??
Sit around and cry? Go to the capital and hold signs?

I thought these people worked for us.

I thought we the people have the power.

This is what runs through my mind every sec of every day now.

Times are not really changing, gun grabbers have been trying to ban guns for many years and they just had to wait for the right excuse to do it(like Sandy Hook).
They figure if they first demonize the more scary looking guns by calling them "assault rifles" it will sound scary to the average uninformed citizen and politician even though rifles are used in a small fraction of murders. It's to get their foot in the door and once they can ban semi auto rifles they will go after other guns like assault handguns and hunting rifles(which they will call sniper guns). Their goal is to register and then ban all modern guns for civilians and that's never changed.

Yea. You have to remember that Janet Napolitano released an official report calling guys like us TERRORISTS. Men who gave our blood, sweat, and tears to our nation and our flag, all while getting shot at and putting our lives on the line.

If you openly stand up for the constitution - TERRORISTS.
If you are a fervent conservative that knows some quotes from the founding fathers - TERRORISTS

It's not the people sneaking across the border - OH NO. They get a free handout, but vets are homeless on the streets. It doesn't matter because now we're the enemy.

If standing up for the SOLEMN OATH I swore to my constitution labels me as a "terrorist," then I'll be the proudest Mother F****ng terrorist ever, and wear the badge with honor.

Sometimes I wonder if my children will still be free when they get older.

***Think of the irony: Major Nidal Hassan killed all of those people at Ft. Hood a couple of years back while shouting "Allah Akbar", having business cards that said "Soldier of Allah", and had been in contact with radical Muslim preachers calling for the destruction of the great satan America and THAT massacre was labeled "Workplace violence" as opposed to terrorism.

People that knew him also knew of his rather radical proclivities yet their complaints went unheralded due to the PC police, and the guy was promoted to his position of incompetence before going on his rampage.

Now he sits in a jail cell getting three hots (culturally sensitive meals too!) and a cot at taxpayer expense of millions of dollars, free lawyers, and free medical care while he makes a mockery of our justice system.

    Interesting times we live in...

I too am constantly thinking about the state our country is in. I have been doing the emails and calls and going to the rallys, but at the end of the day it seems like nothing has been accomplished by that. I do not want this country to slip into anarchy, if we give up, turn our guns in and roll over what then will be next? I hope that we can all agree and see it will not stop there. I like firearms, was raised around them my whole life as I'm sure many of you were. To me they represent freedom and security. If I was to ever give them away, what would I have? This country was built with firearms and people not afraid to use them. If we do become afraid to use them, then fellows I think we might as well turn them in because at that point we won't be worthy or deserving to have them. Not trying to make anybody mad, just typing what I'm thinking.

I too think of these things quite often. I have served for over 29 years on active duty and it just drives me crazy to think that I have fought for the freedoms of citizens of other countries only to come home and have a BASIC and FUNDAMENTAL right, that is written into our constitution so that our government can never take it away, being stripped from us right before our very eyes. By our employees none the less. I am a responsible and law abiding citizen and that gets me labeled as a nut. Meanwhile, criminals roam the streets of Baltimore more happy and brazen knowing their next victim is unarmed for certain. The ONLY reason some of our politicians want registration is because they know the law abiding will self report, then when the day comes, the cops will know where to start on the seizures. Don't take my word for it, self report and see what happens. The biggest question I have is where are all the total ******* Republicans? We NEED some total PRICK Republicans that will go to office and punch the libtards right in their faces when they try to overreach. Not what we have now, a bunch of pussies that hide for fear of their political lives. We need men and women that will not cower to these DBs and take the fight to their streets. Make them fear their political futures. I know, I know, its hard to do when they addict the handout generation to government entitlement programs and the media is their butt whores. Oh well, I can only hope for change!

It is like a bad dream. These Oath violating Liberal/Socialist politicians are calling us out. They need to be removed from office. There have been many criminal acts done by many of these scumbags. We need to hold them accountable. It is a felony to conspire to go against the constitution. We need to enforce the existing laws.

    Don't comply.

Like I have been trying to articulate to everyone, this is about so much more than just firearms. This fight is taking place because governments in the fed, local and state level are becoming more and more authoritarian each year. While I don't blame Obama for everything, I think the reason government is trending this way is largely to do with "Obamacare". Once they saw how blatantly they could force their will upon us they became like a feeding frenzy of piranhas.

I'm not sure if we can change "the times" or stop government from exploiting the TV/sports/welfare zombies' lack of awareness. After what I have seen with SB281 in this state I'm not sure we can even hold on to the Second Amendment.

What I am sure of is that our children are the key. I was highly inspired by the number of teenagers I saw, standing in line for what felt like days, with their parents on the 6th. We need to be vigilant in teaching our children that voting is not going to be enough to keep government from stomping on them. From here on out it is going to be a fight, sacrifices and investments are going to have to be made. I am also sure of this, We cannot afford to let up, give in, or run away. I have begun to eat, sleep, and breathe the fight against this type of corruption and if we are truly serious about leaving a prosperous and free land to our offspring, for generations to come, we are all going to have to ramp it up a notch, myself included.

We need to get real organized real fast. We need to train relentlessly in writing and speaking. Partition a percentage of our bank/investment account(s) for political spending. Study history, law, and the Constitution. Sounds like a lot of work right? It's just the beginning. From here on out our lives are going to change if we are serious about protecting our kids, our heritage, and our country.

Your children will be free. You know why? Because the fact of the matter is that while those assholes label us and rape us with their pieces of paper, it does not diminish the fact that we will be free no matter what they write down or legislate into "law" with their scare tactics.

Sitting in a comfy office you lose track of the fact that in the real world trying your best to disenfranchise people has consequences, and the people that they hope to have carrying out their orders are our brothers and sisters.

What are they going to do when we get fed up enough to call them on their ******** and throw them out of those comfy offices?

Quote all those pieces of paper they've been so busy f*cking us with?

A famous leftist once said "all power comes from the barrel of a gun"
and despite what they tell you, they realize that fact while they legislate our rights into oblivion.

Remember, it's not hard for us to say loud and clear...

    that we realize that too

When the spark strikes that fuse...Many of us will Stand Together..If We get organized.I should have parished in the RVN in 1966 but i am still here...Perhaps for a different Fight.Hopefully a Leader will come forward.I think many of US are dwelling on these very things, I have wondered did the Patriots in 1775-76 have these Same thoughts? Our vision of this Republic is even different from some of the Younger Folks...They say We are nuts...I do not think so.My Heart is Heavy with these Thoughts...God Bless America and All You Patriots...We Will Sink Or Swim Together...Thanks to all My Brothers In Arms Good Luck!

Nobody is taking my guns. I think maybe the saying should be something like - if they don't stop, I won't either. I'm not living my life to be a slave to the powers that be.

Sen. Chris Shank said that veterans and military personnel had the most impact on the Judicial Committee that heard SB 281. He stated that their testimony was very important because they carried a lot of credibility since they fought for the 2nd amendment. He said all testimony was critical but especially veterans. Need veterans to speak on March 1 and 6.

I spent 10yrs w/ an M-4 and I am much more comfortable with it (AR-15 version) in almost ANY situation than a shotgun, pistol, bolt action, etc.

I planned, coordinated, implemented, and oversaw training on this weapon. I ran ranges, shoot houses, etc but I'm not LE, nor retired military.

It just seems like there is such an arbitrary stance that is held by politicians. I don't feel like I should be 'exempt.' I feel like there shouldn't be any law from which to be exempt for any of us! LE, MIL, civvy... it doesn't matter. It's OUR GOD-GIVEN RIGHT that is also backed up in writing in the Constitution of the United States of America!

I think this is the point where vets need to put pressure on the various advocate groups (VFW, DAV, etc.; American Legion already has stated their position, and pretty well, I might add, which prompted me to join them; thanks Sykesville) to throw their weight behind the pro-2A stance.
