A while back on GB I found an early Winchester 94 with a special order stainless barrel and threaded for something. Backed by a letter from Winchester. To expensive for my blood but I suspect suppressor.

P.S. Cant wait to compare notes with the Savage 1899 folks, its a beauty and a takedown (what I wanted)!

Hmmm, this I've gotta see - sounds very interesting.

Savage 99's rule! I was really good and got (better pics below) this beauty for my birthday recently.

1899 (1909 patent) takedown dating to 1911 in 303 savage. Brass follower, adjustable buckhorn sight, featherweight, intact bakelight indian head butpad, tight barrel fit. Been varnished and the caliber is obviously for reloaders but reall nice.

Amazing engineering for the day, quarter turn barrel off, quarter turn barrel on. Slick as heck.

You dont want to know what it ran.................you'll cry.

Thats a nice score, I still need to drag mine out of the safe for photo time. Unfortunately, I didnt realize how tightly (socked) I had them stacked in there! Its like untangling a gordian knot.

Ok I just got to it, here is the corral full of goodies.

    First the Winchesters

Winchester 94 30-30 its my Grandfathers, nothing fancy just a 1970s/80s gun but it will do the job and it has nice wood on it (and a few memories)

    Winchester 94 Trapper .357

    Wichester 94 Trapper .45

    IMG_2703.JPG

    Then the Marlins

1895 Stainless in .45-70 (ultimate hogger)
1894 P in 16" ported in .44 Mag. Shame this is a scarce customer, this is probably the lightest and handiest of all my leverguns.

    IMG_2699.JPG

    Then the Rossi's

Rossi 92 .357 stainless (camp beater)
Rossi 92 pump (ok its a cousin to leverporn) .17 HMR carbine
Rossi 92 .454 Cassul, carbine. Extremely scare gun cant wait to shoot it.

    IMG_2702.JPG

Then the creme de creme the Savages

Savage 99 Takedown in .303 Savage, relatively scarce short barreled featherweight.

Savage 99 Takedown .250-3000 Savage featherweight

Bought the Henry from zoo recently and C&Red the little black 1950s revolver, now if I could just find Chris's chaps he left last time he was here I'd be in business :)

Brand new Oct 2012 production Remlin 336 bought with Black Friday ad prices this week. Based on a few days of ownership I'm not seeing the fit/finish or QC issues people have been discussing for the past few years. I've handled old Marlin 336's before and while this one is different in its own way, I don't necessarily see it as bad. Listed as a 336W on the rifle, however it wears the laminate stock with factory sling swivels of the 336BL (apparently Remington changed the plain hardwood to the laminated and factory installs the swivels on the new 336W).

Its funny, as much as I joke about the Remlin's its pretty hard to screw up a lever gun. I have shot pre 64 and post 64 guns side by side with little functional difference. Also look at both my trappers, they are crossbolt safety guns but shoot great. Sure there may be some hic-ups in machining, some lower quality, a few more failed QC's, sometimes just nostalgia that get through but they will turn out ok. That said $ for $ Id rather have the pre-Remington.

I am pretty much levergunned out, so I doubt I will go shopping again unless something falls in my lap.
