Chris Christie signed the ban into law!

    TRENTON -
Gov. Chris Christie has signed into a law a bill banning bump stocks, like the one a gunman used in the Las Vegas concert shooting to turn a semi-automatic weapon into a rapid-shooting gun.

Christie made no statement Monday on the legislation making ownership of the devices illegal. Under previous law they weren't banned but were barred from legal use on weapons.

Owners will have 90 days to surrender bump stocks or "trigger cranks." Retailers have 30 days. Sale or possession now carries a three- to five-year sentence, a fine of up to $15,000, or both.

Wow, it's his departing gift I guess. I knew it passed, but didn't think he'd sign it.

What does it mean they have to “surrender” them?
How do they know you didn’t sell it or give away to a friend out of state?

google is your friend, I am not.
Problem with bump stocks is that they are IMO at best a range toy, and we are nowhere close to getting a strong "police use test" which would call into question the 1986 amendment on full auto.

Christie was never really a 2A supporter. He only became one while running for office.

Suppose you have one in your vehicle when passing through? Are the residents banned from owning them or is the presence of them banned in the state?
Why didn’t Las Vegas ban them before all those people were killed? Think how many lives would’ve been saved.

Now would a pair of pants with belt loops be considered bump fire device and therefore illegal.....

Well at least the NJ definition of a "bump stock" is more sane (less insane?) than that of MA.

NJ: “Bump stock” means a device that is designed to attach to a semi-automatic firearm in order to fire shots in rapid succession in a manner that simulates an automatic firearm."

MA: “any device for a weapon that increases the rate of fire achievable with such weapon by using energy from the recoil of such weapon to generate a reciprocating action that facilitates repeated activation of the trigger.”

I do hope someone from MA drags the Sheriff to the State House so he can confiscate their rubber bands, pencils, pens, and pants (for the integral belt loops.)
