I am trying to understand something , I made a comment about the local NRA Rep. in Maryland and was told this is the same as the NRA .

Do you folks have NRA funding and can I call the NRA and see if I can help you folks get more attention from the national level ???

Looking at the website this appears to be a shooting club .

MSRPA is the state association for Maryland, affiliated with but not a direct part of the NRA. From a political perspective, the NRA officially views us as the primary resource for knowledge and legislative activity. Unofficially, our former NRA-ILA representative was a Maryland lady before moving to VA and a former staffer in the MGA, so she had a very solid history and presence. Moving forward, our NRA-ILA representative is a new employee and we will have to see what happens through the session.

I have copied a subsection of our About Us page (https://www.msrpa.org/about-us/) below:
    • Maintaining a state-wide network of gun-rights activists for informing legislators, other public officials and the media about the interests of the gun owning community.
    • Promoting marksmanship and safe firearms handling via affiliated clubs and statewide programs.
    • Organizing and sanctioning state championship matches in all shooting disciplines.
    • Maintaining a Political Action Committee for supporting state-level political candidates who are favorable to the gun-owning community.
    • Conducting Junior Programs in the shooting sports.
    • Promoting hunter safety.

We do support litigation efforts, with our primary focus at the moment being the Malpasso v Pallozzi lawsuit working its way through the 4th US Circuit Court of Appeals with a goal of getting the Maryland Wear & Carry Permit scheme in front of the US Supreme Court. Funds for litigation are obtained through a combination of the proceeds of our firearms raffles and any direct donations we receive (sent to the MSRPA with a note dedicating the funds to "Maryland Litigation Efforts").

We also function as a Club, with both individual and club memberships available (https://www.msrpa.org/msrpa-membership/membership.php). As a club, we are a Member Club of the Associated Gun Clubs of Baltimore (https://associatedgunclubs.org/), where our members qualify for range access to a variety of firearms ranges (Trap/100yd & 200yd Rifle/50yd Pistol/etc.).

I am very interested in joining in some form or fashion , I currently have a gun club I pay dues at so another gun club may be out of the question .

I am going to PM you my cell # and information so you can tell me how I can help , maybe fill in a gap somewhere .

If I may make one criticism , it would help if you would put on a tag line or something on your profile that would direct folks to the local chapter maybe that is done to give you some privacy .

If you have some literature I will put it at my place of business .

I thank You for answering and explaining .

Does your group support the efforts of the Patriot Picket group?

The MSRPA supports all citizens and citizen action groups peaceacbly exercising their 1A-protected rights to express their political opinions and petition their government for redress.

I completely agree and I have no doubt that my membership dues are being put to good use by both groups.

    So did you join MSRPA?

Keep in mind folks, MSRPA are the folks who brought us Malpasso v Palozzi, which is a case that is challenging the arbitrary and capricious issuance of CCW permits in Maryland.

We all need to be supporting this case if we can.

This is one of the reasons i will join , sometimes we all have to put our money where our mouths are .

Just talking it without walking it is a chump move . IMHO
