I learned a while ago that my Glock duty weapon will release the slide if I slam the mag in hard enough. I've been told a hundred times probably that Glocks are designed for a sling shot release, but I usually don't do that unless I'm really concentrating. If seating the mag doesn't do it I just hit the lever.

And all this time, I thought it had a dual functions. To release the slide, and then lock the slide back when the magazine is empty.

It does but a lot of dedicated race-guns have the slide lock disabled, in particular STI/SVIs.

And on that note on 1911/2011s I usually use the slide stop while on Glocks I tend to slingshot the slide.
