How many of you guys use multiple uppers for a lower, as opposed to a dedicated upper for each lower? I think it It does make sense for SBR's and pre-ban lowers. However, every time I have started with multiple uppers, a new lower finds its way into the collection :)

The problem with multiple uppers is that you end up liking one more and then it never leaves the lower. I have two 300 blackout uppers, the 7.5” never leaves the pistol lower and the 10.5” never leaves the safe.

The only way the 10.5” will leave the safe is if the 7.5” has a problem or if it gets a dedicated lower, it’s about to get that lower and a tax stamp to SBR it.

Yes I do that and my lowers are more than $250 cause of the giessele trigger upgrades. I keep Lower in the safe seperated from the upper except my 2 pre oct2013 have dedicated uppers
Some uppers on a shelf outside of safe. Gun room is locked though with steel door.

yeah it's almost wrong to not have matched sets...

but like noted above it does get 'spensive when you put nice triggers in all those lowers

I'm weird. I build complete guns. I don't like having red-headed step children running around.

Somehow, I keep ending up with enough parts that I just have to do another build. Guess I will have to stop storing them in the dark!:innocent0

Mine are all about the looks, the uppers and lowers have to “work” together.

like the post a few years ago about how many ARs or something..... damn I found a buffer spring....well, gotta build a rifle for it. hahahaha

Plus, with your stuff, my friend- you have them all with awesome fit and finish and purpose. Now if I just had a couple plinkers I would do the swapping. But for anything specific, leave as is for the most part..

I have 4 uppers for my one lower. Looking to get more. I love the versatility of the AR. I have the standard 5.56 Hbar it came with, a 6.5 Grendel, 7.62x39, and .22lr upper. Looking to get a 9mm upper soon, maybe a 410.

On the other hand, I have been using the same lower for a few uppers lately actually. Only because it has a Geiselle trigger in it.

I have one if my lowers that I use two uppers on it, that’s about it. It used to have a .22 upper on it with a red dot, now it has a 9mm upper that I built with a CMMG RDB barrel and bolt combo. My other three lowers are painted, cerakoted, and one is my SBR.
Eventually I’ll get around to building another upper for the SBR

    Behind enemy lines...
    So I have 2 uppers and one lower...all STAG's in 5.56/.223

    I originally bought a complete Stag Model 6 (24" bull barrel)....then I purchased a Stag
    Model 3 upper ( 16" Carbine ).

I'm happy. Dual purpose...long range or Civil Defense/HD . Got it covered.
I really like how I can mix and match whatever I like.

I’ve got a lot more uppers than lowers. Mostly because Im a trigger snob and refuse to build a lower that doesnt have a ridiculously expense trigger in it. I have two completion uppers that get swapped on the same lower since it’s tuned to run low mass. I have a lower setup to run all my 9mm uppers and the rest are universal. Where you can get into problems with swapping uppers is loads like subsonic 300 blk without a suppressor because you have to have the recoil system lightened up to run them well. You of course have to be sure not to throw a short barrel on without swapping the stock for a brace too.
