MDS, Thank you for helping me buy my first gun almost 10 years ago! Now I come to the experts in search of a rimfire MP5 style rifle and its availability in MD. Several years ago I got shoot a GSG 522 at range in PA and thought it was very fun. I am looking to purchase something similar of my own.

    Questions:

Are they legal in MD? Searching this forum seems to have mixed results. I know very little about the gun laws in MD. Is there a waiting period for one of these or is it cash and carry?

If the rifle is legal in MD, are the magazines as well? When i purchase the rifle, do i need to also purchase a shorter mag?

Any recommendations on shops that have these in person? I'm looking to spend several hundred on a new one and would love to purchase through a shop that has one and can walk me through maintenance.

Can these rifles be shot at the local indoor shooting ranges? Any recommendations on an outdoor shooting range?

Lastly, I am not married to the GSG brand, any recommendations? I am trying to keep it around $300-$400 price point.

Sorry for all of the questions, even though it's been almost 10 years, I am still new to this. Thanks for all the help!

Cash and carry! We have two 522s in the house and everyone loves them. Call around to the IPs to see who has one. Both of ours were purchased locally.

They can be persnickety about ammo, but finding the right food is part of the fun of a new gun. With the end of the 22 shortage, we have stocked up on the best food. We did experience a couple of minor cycling issues early on, but these were resolved in less than an hour after looking over several YouTube videos. If I recall correctly, a couple of the screws on the bolt carrier were loose.
