    The Army's been doing a variation of this for years. They zero M16s at 25m and then check zero at 300m.

    The Army's been doing a variation of this for years. They zero M16s at 25m and then check zero at 300m.

    Way back when, we shot the M16A1's. We would go to the 900 inch line (aka 25 yard line) and shoot three rounds. If we were getting dime sized groups we would then adjust the sights to move the point of impact to the center of the target by shooting additional 3 shot groups. If you couldn't get three shot groups in a dime sized area then you needed remedial instruciton of sight alignment and sight picture and squeezing the trigger.

    BZO = Battle Sight Zero was center mass at 300 yards.

    well if you look at ballistics its not too far off on the different calibers...it basically using .270 in a 6inch window of drop from 26yds out to 300...which for deer sized target is a kill shot. Assuming you dont mess by flinching when you shoot.
