    Keep in mind that there are places
    in the world where .303 has been a
    round used by military and police forces,
    for 100+ years...and where, when this
    surplus ammo was built, it still was.
    I remember being in many sandy or
    tropical places in the Middle East, North Africa, and southwest Asia in the '80's
    and 90's where the old SMLEs were everywhere. They may not have been
    the frontline weapons they had
    been a couple of decades earlier, but
    there they most certainly were, and on duty. And, so, the reason this ammo
    was most probably built.
