    From the linked thread:

will they end up at Palmetto State Armory? After all they did get caught selling those BCG's with 8620 bolts

Did PSA get caught being sheisty?

Wish he would've actually named what the manufacturer was so that they could be avoided more easily

Stick with the big players and you'll be alright (minus a Mis-step by PSA and their 8620 BCG, which the article correctly puts on blast).

This is a part that is containing an explosion right by your face, don't skimp.

    My list from research:
    Colt
    BCM
    /list

There are others that are thought highly of
    LMT
    Young Mfg
    ~Stag~

And many others that stand behind their product should a situation occur, but in the end there is an explosion happening right by your head, spend the extra $60-100 and get a BCM. You won't miss the money come next Christmas.

    Hmmm...

Ambiguous and unsubstantiated at best... If he is that confident of his sources and that concerned he should just name the manufacturer or at least post pictures.

He's a top poster on M4carbine.net amongst other sites. I think his post is more of a general caution than taking on one company. To me it reads that he is using that one company as an example.

he's warning people about what to look for when buying - especially from people reselling BCG's that may be these exact units.

He's actually a pretty reliable source. He is a moderator at M4Carbine.net and is connected with Centurion Arms. Anyone that belongs to M4Carbine.net knows they don't monkey around like ARFCOM.

Not to mention, we should all already be aware of this. Ever since Sandy Hook, there has been an influx of poor quality BCG's. Even PSA got involved when they started selling bolts made with 8620. They however immediately changed the bolts description as soon as it was brought to their attention.

In regards to bolts made with 9310. I wouldn't say it is a bad thing but it needs to be heat treated correctly to get it on the same level of strength with C158. In some cases, it can even become harder. It just takes a reputable company to make them.

In today's market with multiple BCG's available, there is no reason not to buy one from somebody like BCM or Colt.
