  • Virginia Governor is trying to pass unconstitutional gun laws,

It "require(s) universal background checks; establish an Extreme Risk Protective Order; reinstate Virginia’s One Handgun a Month law; prohibit individuals subject to final protective orders from possessing firearms; ban assault firearms; prevent children from accessing firearms; and require individuals to report lost or stolen firearms to law enforcement."

The Republicans have two vote majorities in both houses of the GA. If they stick together (who knows?) these will go nowhere.

Don't they reelected their Senate this year? The way that state has been trending it doesn't look good for the GOP to hold the legislature.

It's only good news in the same way that one's been missed by an inch with the first bullet in a protracted gun fight. In VA, the assault from the left is just getting started, and the conservatives will lose the legislature next time around. This is a fleeting delay, not a reprieve from these sorts of laws in VA. Northern VA is toxic on all of this, and they will be running the show from the next election and going forward. As with Maryland, only significant federal court relief will help in the long run.

I agree with you for the most part, but I think there's a bigger gun culture in VA overall then MD, so I don't think it's as dire as the next election cycle. I use the regularity of the Nation's Gun Show in Ashburn, the number of higher end "guntry clubs" in Loudoun County and nearby counties, the increase in the number of CCW holders, etc. And while not our friend, the NRA is HQ'd in Fairfax too. I feel the resistance going to be pretty strong and will make MD level BS a bit further off. That doesn't mean VA residents should breath a sign of relief. They share the 4th Circuit with us, and as you mentioned, momentum is on the left's side. But it's not unreasonable for VA to be a decent retreat state for those of bound to the DC area, but too tired to fight in MD.

It's likely that RBG will step down and SCOTUS will go to a SOLID 5-4 constitutional - activist margin (sometimes 6-3 depending on Robert's mood). Once that happens, these issues can be conclusively settled in a way upholds the 2A instead of chipping away at it.

Outside of NOVA the gun culture is alive and
well. But as pointed out VA electoral politics are on the precipice of a legislative takeover by the left because of their dominance in NOVA.

VCDL has done a good job getting anti gun bulls killed in committe.

Who knows how long that can last is a good question.

I have been a VCDL member since 2009 when I first got my VA CHP.

    They deserve our continued support.

I know a few people here are going to lobby day in Richmondbon Monday.

    Good on them

For what it helps, VCDL lobby day is this Monday. Door to door lobbying starts at 8a and rally is 11a.

I will leading a Patriot Picket delegation traveling to Richmond on Monday to stand with our VCDL brothers and sisters while we are Open Carrying, as is the tradition for Lobby Day.

Join us! This is a fantastic day with fantastic people. VCDL always brings in a great keynote speaker for the 11am rally. Last year, it was firearms science researcher and author John Lott.

If you wish to Open Carry into the State Capital and the legislative buildings you must possess a conceal carry permit from VA (resident or non-resident) or possess a CCW that Virginia honors.

All carry in the Capital buildings must be open. No CCW allowed in the buildings unless it’s a cop or legislator.

After the lobbying and the speeches we will all go out to eat as a group. Good times!

Below: Snallygaster joins me at the rally, plus a pic with John Lott.

it’s very likely that a Democrat will win the 2021 gubernatorial election; Northam is barred from running consecutive terms. In the long run, some of these anti-gun proposals, whether it is background checks, which will lead to a registry or magazine bans, will become law within the next few years. It’s the product of losing statewide races over the past ten years

A very disturbing thing I hear about VA, I have bought property and plan on moving in the next couple years.

They were able to fight off laws this round but the wave of blue seems to be persistent in Virginia. I think the next election will be the straw that broke the camels back. Then they will be like MD. THEN it'll wake up VA gun owners to the polls.

I think VA gun owners are complacent because they haven't had to worry about infringement for 20 years.

You bought property. Where are you going to run to? Some point we all need to stand and fight.

In Oregon the legislature is deliberately violating state constitution. The state supreme court doesn't care either. They don't care what the constitution says because they control everything.

Maybe these gun laws will be contested but Heller was already settled and the anti-gunners don't care. They will throw spaghetti at the wall just to see what sticks. They don't care about laws because it takes years to reach the supreme court and even then they aren't taking 2A cases.

Right now the 2nd Amendment doesn't exist.

The PP crew traveled to Richmond today to support VCDL Lobby Day.

We fight the infringers on every battlefield we are able to and supporting our VCDL brothers and sisters seemed like the right thing to do!!

They recognized the PP as “The guys who drove Maxine Waters crazy!”

The Trash Can Sinatras are known even in the Old Dominion!

Stoveman, Deep Lurker and R&R stepped up to hold VCDL banners when they asked for help so their members could be spectators.

The Featured speaker was Nikki Goeser, who husband was shot and killed in front of her at the pub they owned.
