MD casinos post signs stating no weapons allowed. Believe there was a prior thread that stated casinos did not allow off duty officers to conceal carry.

No such sign at MD Live in Hanover.

There is a sign as soon as you go to walk on to the casino floor stating no firearms.

I was heavily involved in the thread that began with MGM opening up. I venture to MD Live fairly frequently and have looked for a sign and have yet to find one. While there is nothing in the Maryland law, there is something written in COMAR under the Maryland Lottery (which controls the casino's) that states that Firearms are not permitted. Some claim that COMAR falls under "where prohibited by law" and others state that it doesn't. I choose to error on the side of caution with this one and don't carry there any longer.

Basically for most of you people who managed to get the rare Maryland carry permit, your typical concealed carry situation will be a dangerous routine trip to Walmart and back to your house, maybe a few drives into the city--watch out for the squeegee boys, a few drives on the country road--got to watch out for those pumas and black bears in Maryland.

This is what open carry looks like in Maryland

This is your typical Maryland man: he is packing a fully loaded Samsung S6, 5.4" screen, fully matte black, single button release, ambidextrous controls, hammer-forged casing, and can call 911 when his ass is in danger.

Here is a copy of the sign. Note that it even states off duty officers may not possess a weapon.

I'm not trying to inflict pain or cause injury, if it gets to the point that I'm having to pull my weapon it means either my life is going to end or their life is going to end.

I always thought signs meant nothing in Maryland , I don't see many so I really am not sure . Handwritten signs and certain signs hold no force of law unless they have certain language in the or look a certain way . Maryland is a mix of junk IMHO , I sometimes air on the side of caution in these cases .

I completely agree. My understanding is that a sign is not law and that the only thing an establishment can do is ask you to leave the premises. However I am not comfortable or willing to carry in casino because not sure if there are laws regarding maryland gaming establishments. Have not gotten clear guidance related to that topic.

    Good Day All,

Wanted to get answer to a question that even some local police are unsure of. IF you are lucky enough to get the holy Maryland CCW permit, I understand that state buildings, court houses, MVA and state parks are off limits. What are some of the other gotcha's that we might not be aware of, like the State fairgrounds is that a go or no go area.

Here is my small list of no-go places

    State Parks
    National Forests
Public schools (K-12?? what about colleges or Private schools?)
Demonstration at a public place or in vehicle within 1000 feet of a demonstration.
While under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by Federal Law. I know rest areas have been made a no go but not sure about the others.

Again not using this as the law just input.

    Thanks in Advance.
Keep in mind IF you get a permit, it's only good while you are carrying cash to & from your business to the bank...

Permits are very limited in nature...

It is NOT a permit to carry all the time...

Remember this is NOT FREE STATE of Merry-Land...

However there are a small number of folks getting permits not related to being a business owner. That eliminates the restriction of only caring while doing business-related activities.

it is illegal to carry anywhere you are not restricted with a permit. Four pages of this is crazy. Period.

Yes, they are limited (in terms of who can jump through the hoops to get one, or the lengths someone has to go to in order to meet the G&S standards currently being used)... but I'm a self-employed business owner that does very little cash business. And I have an unrestricted permit, good for anyplace it's legal to carry in MD, at any time. Because I did my homework, and relied on the solid advice from some informed folks here who helped me understand the drill. I put together a solid application, I got the permit, and I used the HPRB to remove restrictions in order to avoid legal jeopardy from the vagueness of the restrictions' wording. Done.

As long as I’m doing business, regardless if I am going to the bank or not. Plenty of people I know with unrestricted as well.
