Nah, she knows exactly what she's doing. This is an asymmetric-conflict environment. She can spew whatever venomous crap she chooses, and with a complicit MSM, the nastiness will make headlines, but a correction/retraction/apology will be buried on an unlinked webage on a low-bandwidth server running in a disused lavatory with the URL "www.beware-the-leopard.com".

Other MSM outlets will gleefully report, factually I might add, that their peers are reporting that Countess D'Alesandro made these outrageous statements. That layer of indirection allows them to imply validity associated with the statements, but maintain a modicum of "journalistic integrity" as they were simply reporting that "they said she made these statements."

The average doe-eyed citizen will stare at the toob over tonight's Hungry Man selection and choke-down whatever stories are presented as fact. When the good Countess declares "National Reciprocity will give chainsaws to convicted axe-murderers," the popular response won't be "bullshlt," but rather "That's bad. There should be a law ..."

@NancyPelosi - violent criminals already concealed carry, no permit needed. Apparently you want a world where they're the only ones that do, and a world in which an abused spouse has no means to defend herself. You want more deaths of innocent because you're a Congressional advocate for criminals and not law abiding citizens.
