So apparently everyone makes a mistake with their first gun.
If that's not true, I'd rather not know about it and live in the ignorance of...

Got my first gun and I already want out. Still in box, haven't shot a round yet.
How can I get out of it?

    S&w mp 15-22 sport.

Why? That is a nice .22 you have there...I have one and the only thing wrong with mine is the cost of feeding it :) Eats anything and everything I give it.

If one wants an AR, one should get an AR.

I also hereby declare that everyone's first gun MUST be a ruger 10/22.

I tell you what, my friend. I shoot my 5.56 and 300 then go to the M&P 15/22. Cheaper to shoot and great to shoot along with my kids and wife. They have not graduated up to the 300 yet :)

I meant cheaper per round not cheaper overall. Those buckets are heavy, too. lol

Is really tough to go wrong with a 10/22....I've got 3 or so...love to shoot them all.

If ya want an AR, get an AR. If ya want a target plinker (in .22) get a plinker.

You don't want out, your lookin for a "reason" to buy another gun.........

    Welcome to the chaos. ....

    I hear ya.
I wanted a cheap to shoot range gun and I think this is the perfect gun for it.
Plus I love the AR as a whole and figured this is the perfect starting point while I learn how to build them.
$.07/rd and nutnfancy closed the deal for me.

It just looks so damn cheap.

I messed up. My 10/22 was my second gun. Dang.

That said, go build an AR. Take your time, search prices, make it your own.

Actually, Doorman has it right lolol. An excuse to get another. You know they need siblings :) And the 10/22 is awesome, as well. Don't have one but shot a few of my friend's. Nice... I just like my little 15/22 because it is like muscle memory I guess when shooting an AR. Now you made me have to go home and spend time with mine and tell her you did not mean it lolol

Most of the pros who shoot rimfire consider the 15-22 the most reliable .22 auto rifle made, even if they shoot a 10/22 in competition. I shot the 15-22 in competition from 2010 to 2014 and it never skipped a beat. The main reason I eventually went to a 10/22 was because I could build it lighter (lighter means faster in the world of speed shooting). Although to be truthful there were a couple of other reasons not related to the 15-22 itself, like having to shoot a match in NJ where a 15-22 with a threaded barrel is a no-no and because I won a $350 VQ carbon fiber 10/22 barrel at a match. Still have my competition 15-22 because I can still do mag changes faster with the 15-22 than the 10/22 when needed.

So put it back in the box &

Take it to an Industry Partner &

    Trade it for a 10-22...

    Expect to lose some money...

50% or so of what you paid for it. It's a used gun now. Dealer can't get as much for it as they can for a new gun. Plus, they're understandably looking to make a profit.

    Holy @$&£
    That's insane. I'm thinking maybe $50 not %50.
Maybe getting over the looks and giving it a chance is the way to go...
And listening to doorman of course

What am I expected to lose?
    Any ideas?

Who did you buy it from..?

Talk to them first (IF they are local)..?

OR just take your rifle & talk directly to an Industry Partner that has some 10-22's in stock...

It may take you a few phone calls to see who stocks 10-22's...

Check the Industry Partner Section of Md Shooters for names & addresses...

    Good Luck...

HINT, If you don't like it don't keep it...

Where are you located? I'm sure a member or two would be interested in taking it off of your hands. You don't have long until that 50 post minimum to list it in the classefieds.
