I am so tired of the CMP apologists. And people who donít know what the law says but profess to be experts.

But I thought you were involved in the challenge to MDís assault weapons ban?

Direct quote from CMP Chief Operating Officer
"CMP 1911" is an FFL licensed business and CMP is not. We cannot transfer records from CMP to "CMP 1911". Everyone has a choice in this matter... Follow the purchasing rules as prescribed or don't purchase a 1911 from CMP 1911. Again, these rules are mandated by Congress and the United States Army and CMP 1911 has to follow to the letter

If you have a beef with the way things are being handled you are barking up the wrong tree , whine to the Army and Congress

False. The law says what the law says. You and they can argue all you want to try to back into your prior statement, but it is hogwash. I donít know why you keep coming back to the Army. The Army has ZERO say in any of this. You keep asserting otherwise. You are wrong.

Plain and simple, this is ďsnowflakeĒ policy.

And the CMP COO is completely full of crap.

"CMP 1911"/01FFL shipping directly to a "C&R Holder"/03FFL is a much safer play than going with the convoluted plan they've laid out.

I'd love to be a fly on the CMP wall when they receive these 10,000 thoroughly screwed up packages.

They didn't fill this out correctly. They forgot to sign that. What does that word say, I can't quite make that out? NICS is down. NICS is up again, but we gotta put John Smith's order on hold. Cuzz seven other John Smith's got red flagged at NICS.

An already vetted 03FFL holder bypasses all of that garbage. They get our license and we get a 1911.

If CMP is a licensed FFL-01 business with an acquisition/disposition record book, then there's no legal reason they can't sell directly to an FFL-03 if it's legal in that state. Army can piss and moan all they want but CMP isn't breaking any law by doing that; and the Army is mandated by law to TRANSFER the pistols to "CMP 1911". The NICS check is stupid, they are sending it to an FFL-01 not the individual (can they sell to an FFL-02 or -07?).

In regard to the rattletrap statement - if the prelim pictures of the piles of pistols are any indication, than it's probably accurate.

Regardless, not much point in expending energy worrying about it, it'll play out the way it plays out.

Itís shocking this may happen at all. CMPís persistence with a member of Congress is the only reason these guns arenít staying in storage forever. If the military had its way, it would always be the status quo, no matter the cost. Unless youíve seen it with your own eyes, you would not believe what the DoD will do to NOT change. It is massively risk averse and governed almost entirely by inertia. Every decision has to go through 50 people and it doesnít matter if 49 people say yes.

With the rifles the world still made sense: the Army has been turning them over to CMP for a long time, so inertia kept them turning them over. With the pistols itís a brand new process. What do they have to gain?ónothing. And what could they possibly lose?óa lot. I still canít believe itíll ever happen.

The 1911's have been talked about on the CMP Forum for at least 2 years and it would not surprise me if none are shipped for another year. After a quick look this is the oldest post I found:
http://forums.thecmp.org/showpost.ph...63&postcount=1

All the questions and issues being brought up here have been and are being discussed on the CMP Forums in detail. Here is a link to the main page of the CMP Forum and it is as easy to join and participate in as MD Shooters. Look in the ASK CMP section for multiple threads on 1911's:
