My Dad bought me an Interarms 98k for about $20 from Woolco in 1970.

They had just changed over from the 760. My dad bought it for me at J.C. Penny's in LaVale of all places, I can't remember the price but I'm thinking it was in the mid $200's but I'm guessing.

Huh. I'm trying to remember if it was an AR-15 or a Mosin 91/30, but definitely one or the other. Sold the 91/30 (eventually bought a M39 to replace it). Still have the AR-15, but it has evolved substantially as well.

Winchester 1892 in .25-20 back when I was in middle school. Had the big gun fighter lever on it and a saddle ring. Not sure what happened to it, i think my dad sold it. Maybe someone on his forum has it now.

1917 Eddystone in the summer of 1982. It was my father in law's and it was he that first taught me to shoot a rifle. After I became familiar with it I used it to shoot groundhogs on the family (his) farm.

Mine was a Christmas present, 1971, I believe -- an Interarms-sporterized 1893 Mauser in 7x57. I still have it, but now it sits in a replacement stock. I don't shoot it, but it will never get sold.

That is an awesome rifle. And LaVale is an awesome town!

I was 12 my father got me a marlin 336cs in 30-30. I think he had got it from "Best" in Frederick when they were still around. I still have the gun.

First rifle I owned is 700 BDL 30-06. Put it on layaway at Kmart in 1982. I believe it was $279.00. Still have it, mostly hunt with a 7600 30-06 when I go to WV or hunt a rifle county in PRofMD now. Killed my first deer with a 30-30 Savage bolt that I used to borrow from my oldest brother.

First centerfire rifle was a Mini 14. Roll stamped "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty."

    Still have it.
