I did it! It has taken several months to get to the point where I am now. I feel like I'm on a stage behind a podium accepting an award! I would like to thank Heritage Training Center for their HQL training classes, Gunbroker for having ANYTHING affordable in stock and Cindy's Hot Shots for their smooth as butter FFL transfer and serious humor! God for our rights and the constitution for recognizing them! :D

Chose the Taurus G3 as my first gun due to price, but honestly, the thing is better than I expected. I only had YouTube reviews, magazine reviews, and blog reviews to get a mental feel for how the gun felt and operated.

Anyways! Just wanted to say it loud and say it proud and to thank both you guys here at MDShooters and the helpful guys on the r/MDGuns subreddit (you can find me there as freeman2a)

Enjoy the quick pictures I took with some spare time I had and PLEASE PLEASE excuse me for not showing feet/toes/socks...I know, i know, a serious sin has been committed by omitting that! :lol2:

    PS. I am a hobbyist photographer.....maybe enthusiast?

Edit: All pictures were taken on white copy paper. Edited in Photoshop/Lightroom and blah blah

Congratulations on your first-born! Are you thinking of some additional training?

Yep! Currently taking some USCCA training. Other than that, I've convinced....somehow...my whole family to go to a nearby range to get basic gun safety class at the end of the month, we already booked! We are going to stroll in there 6+ strong lol. But on a serious note, I take safety very seriously. Before we got to this point we already had a safe and already had been practicing holding and retrieving the firearm from our bedside safe in a controlled stress scenario. (Using an orange 1911 training gun) I have my wife run surprise drills once a week. She is getting into it. I showed her that guns can be modified with cerakote and that seemed to have boosted her interest in them by a lot.

I plan on taking at least 40+ hours of training before the year is up and I'm saving up to get a couples membership at a range near us. Once ammo prices fall I plan on having us go to the range 2-3 times a month.

Lol yes! I just caught myself looking at the TS26-45 Winchester Gun safe...mind you I have a bedside nightstand safe right now with a 2 Handgun capacity. :lol2:

Good on your for investing in training for yourself and for your family.

And believe me when I say that you've contracted the "itch that don't quit" and I don't mean the one you got in your first year of college.

My first handgun was a Taurus PT92. Served me well and gave me a grasp of the fundamentals. Eventually traded up for something striker fired and never looked back. I did eventually get a proper M9 but she's a total safe queen.

Taurus has come a long way since their earlier days. Their new polymer striker fired pistols are an excellent value and have gotten good marks over the long term.

Very nice photos. A lot of great folks and information at MDShooters

Thanks! And yes, so so much information. I would have been lost if I had never found this forum. I'm new to all these gun laws, I've never been one to advocate for gun control because I never thought that would solve the root of the issue. Now, gun control effects me directly, a law abiding citizen. I didn't like needless laws before I got into needing a firearm for home defense. Now that I'm in the middle of it, I like it even less.

I also did not know that Maryland was a May Issue state. I was looking forward to feeling safer in my everyday travels, but that has been knocked out of my fantasies by my training instructor. According to him, I would not get a carry permit because according to the MDSP I don't have a "good and substantial" reason. He says feeling safer is "not a qualifier".

Not "into it" per say, but definitely willing to "give it a try" they are more liberal leaning. I was sweating profusely when I brought up the subject and convinced them to go. Honestly..."it will be fun and we will be doing it in a safety focused environment" is basically the argument that "won" them over.

Congratulations and enjoy the Ruger at the range. Welcome to MDS too.

Like you, I'm the first gunowner in my family. And as far as I know, the only one so far.

Well done on the pictures and choosing the Taurus. I carried a Taurus for several years and competed in IDPA with them also. They make a fine product and they are one of the best supporters of the 2A in the industry. :party29:

Taurus should hire you, those are better than what they have on their site. Congrats- I was a somewhat 1st gen as well, parents are Anti’s even though my Dad and most of our family heritage was USGI. First time buying a gun and shooting is kind of like first time sexual Congress, it’s a little scary, a little awkward, but very satisfying.

Great pics and welcome to the forum. I'm actually pining for a Taurus TX22 (once it becomes available again and haven't checked if it's now on the MD handgun roster). It's been getting fantastic reviews.
