Insecticide. I look for them in the spring around my structures and then give their entrance points a heavy dose of insecticide.

Carpenter Bee's are numerous this time of year. I have cans of wasp spray that I judicially use when taking down the flying male guarding the nest; and then inject a nice stream of it into the wood that the female has burrowed into; for her nest.

I know you're trophy hunting, but for real control, I just discovered several traps made from blocks of wood and plastic soda bottles that work great.

I usually use a badminton racquet, but they do hover very still, so I have taken some out with an airsoft.

My brother and I used to use BB guns. Great fun. My neighbor's shed is riddled with them.

I sit on the deck till the bee starts it's attack run. Then I whip out the wasp spray and make like a Phalanx gun. I get enough on it to down the sucker every time.
