Oh my....an original Colt Cobra in .38 Special (1973 vintage) available today at United Gun Shop in Rockville for $675

I would want the vintage Colt for all the reasons: investment value, old-school workmanship, etc.
Are the grips on that one original?

As far as the new one goes, it's a great shooter. Should give it a try sometime.

Those are correct stocks for the era. When Colt began installing the shrouded ejector rod they also went to these fuller stocks. The piece is priced a bit high but it depends on a hands-on examination and whether it comes with its original box and papers. I don't much care about the box and don't pay extra for it but it's a nice bonus if there. Still...I think it's priced a bit high. Maybe a counter-offer will work for someone.

There is a holster with it, probably 70s vintage, too.

No box or papers that I know of but this is the improved “second model” with the shrouded ejector rod. I’m not a fan of the exposed ejector rods.

When I was in law enforcement and at the time was restricted to revolvers, the one I carried most often off-duty was a blued Cobra like that...only with Pachmayr Compac grips. I occasionally carried a Detective Special or a Python but the Cobra was the favorite. Lightweight...accurate...reliable. As good as it gets for revolvers. They're damn fine revolvers.

Lol, sure, let me pull out that extra $5 grand.

(and I say this with a Colt Python and Manurhin MR73 in my revolver collection, but sadly no Korth )

Speaking of higher end revolvers, I was so excited when I heard that S&W was coming out with new Performance Center 686 models with vented ribs. But then I saw pictures of them ... I guess these are competition features instead of an homage to an earlier generation of classics ...

GymRatz has a 4" for sale of which I am thinking about pulling out the CC to make a deposit. I want one because they just look bad ass.

I had zero interest in revolvers until this thread. You guys are worse than crack dealers.

The VZ grips on the new Cobra. Digging the texture of the hyena brown ones.
