“Smaller, lighter and sleeker -- here's a first look at the new CZ 457 rimfire platform.

The biggest change is the switch to a push-to-fire safety system, which means the safety is no longer 'backwards' to many in the American market.

But that's not all -- other upgrades are as follows: The action has been shortened and slab-sided to reduce bulk and weight, reduced bolt rotation means increased clearance for large scopes, the trigger is adjustable for creep, poundage and overtravel, the bottom metal is now sculpted and sleek, metalwork is finished in nitride to give it the look of a quality blue with the corrosion resistance of stainless, and the interchangeable barrel system and smooth-running magazine system of the 455 is retained unchanged. Last but definitely not least, the firing pin weight has been significantly reduced, resulting in less disruption at the shot and enabling a tad more accuracy.

Shown here as the new 457 Varmint Precision Trainer, it wears a carbon fiber composite stock from the fine folks at @mannersstocks, a 24" heavy threaded barrel and the CZ Rimfire suppressor (sold separately, of course).“

Not enough there for me to dump my 455, but if I was buying a new one I'd get it. But with a 20" bbl though.

Ohhhh, I like this a lot. I have a handful of 452's, but never bought any 455's for various reasons. This 457 might get me back to CZ rimfires!

24inch barrel with a suppressor seems unwieldy.

I think that was a mis-print looks much more like a 20-21” barrel to me, the new CZ suppressor they have attached is 6.9”. No way is that set-up shown is nearly 31”!
It’s usually only offered in 16.5-20.5” but the training model is 24.875” from what I recall (CZ452 and CZ455). I don’t understand the need for that long a barrel with 22/17 rimfire with very little powder.

I like the wood stock on the 455 myself. I guess if it shoots great it really wouldn't matter though. You could always repaint it to suit your taste

It will be available in a ton of offerings just like the CZ455

Well it is different from the 452 series of rifles.
Doubtful it will shoot any better.
    I rate it ......

I think it looks great and knowing CZ, they'll build it with a bunch of different stocks and barrel lengths.

My only complaint about CZ rifles, in general, has been the trigger pull. If the 457 is an improvement over the 455, I might be interested. Thanks for the review!

Keeping an eye on this new release. Tempted to get the Tikka T1x when it is more available, but maybe CZ will get the 457 out to market in bigger numbers sooner.

There are of course CZ 452 Americans still available from some vendors. These not only shoot well, but the finish and execution on the rifles is quite nice. Great addition to one's collection.

I put a Timney trigger in my 455 to match my .308 long range rifle.

i'll second the timney recommendation as well as add my wish that CZ would sell just the barreled action. i hate ditching the stock just drop it in a chassis.

i'd also love to know the release date. i have money just burning a hole in my pocket waiting to buy one

I bought my CZ455 in a Manners stock. So no change needed. :)

Only problem is, it made my buy a Manners for my Rem 700. :D
