As much as some would like everyone to believe, 3D printing takes learning, patience, and a bit of skill. It's not just, "Oh, I need to print another receiver today. Clicking 'print' button now."

Very true. It’s a shame the media misrepresents 3D printer tech.

Why sit back and wait to see what happens? Get involved. Join us in Annapolis if possible.

Fair point. However, sometimes it feels like these things are out of our control. We’ve been stuck with useless hql licenses, assault weapon bans, ccw restrictions, etc. for many years.

Which is why, if firearms are important to you, it's important to get involved.

Really nothing got passed this year. The “we will not comply” tactic really disturbed them. We need more people to tell them. We always need more people.

We really didn't get stuck with them...

    1. The original bill was orders of magnitude worse then what got passed.
    2. While it zipped through the Senate, we managed to keep it held up in the House for a month before they had their Committee hearing on the bill.
    3. We made them cheat not once, but twice;

The first was in O'Malley, The Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate calling a caucus meeting of the Democrat members of the joint committee. Those member were told how they would vote and what amendments could be approved. Any deviation would result in the loss of committee appointments and the loss of ALL descressionary spending for their respective districts for the next two years.

The second time was in the committee voting session on an Amendment to get rid of dimunition credits for those convicted of felony gun crimes. The first vote passed, the President of the Senate called a meeting of the two committee chairmen and they had a meeting in the back room of the committee area with O'Malley. They commenced to have a revote and it came out to be a tie, at which point the amendment failed.

Which leads to a question...why did the President of the Senate need to reside over a House Committee voting session? Also, why did O'Malley feel the need to sit in the back room and watch the committee vote?

No, they didn't force this on us, we forced them to cheat and cheat hard. I really wish more people understood this and understood the actual power we had in 2013, and the same power we can weld in Annapolis to make them take a step back.

ok, I'll bite what does TDS really mean?

It's an acronym for "clinically insane."

"Insanity” isn’t a medical term. It’s a legal one. Some claim there’s no such thing as “clinical insanity”.

In law however, TDS requires that one (A) be unable to distinguish reality from fantasy, (B) be unable to conduct their own affairs due to psychosis, or (C) be subject to behaviour that they cannot control.
    Yep, sounds about right.

I don't understand why that means they "cheated". Can you explain it in another way? Also, I don't think the democrats care if they cheated. For them, the end justifies the means.

Welcome to MDS , where jumping to conclusions are the favorite past time .

My first time here was worst then your first post , they thought i was a O'Smelly spy . :D and that kept me away for a year before I came back as welder516 .

So the way I am figuring we are mellowing out a bit .
I realize your handle was a luck or by chance but kinda funny as well . ;)

I was called a troll by some in MSI. Lots of others on here think I am anti-gun. It is all good. lol

Why do so many people give new posters grief when they post a legal question? Best way to send them away from the board.

Anyway, to answer the OP's question, 3D printed guns, or "ghost guns" for that matter, are still legal in Maryland. However, there was a bill last session that would have outlawed any firearms manufactured after 1968 that were not serialized and the bill did not provide for grandfathering or a method for serialization either. Luckily for us, that bill did not pass. However, it is out there lurking. That bill actually had some of my liberal gun owning friends bent out of shape. Hoping it never comes along again. However, as my father in-law says, "Hope in one hand and crap in the other, and see which fills up first."

    Welcome to the board.

That is what I know TDS to mean from checking aquarium water. lol What is this TDS that everybody is worried about?

Trump Derangement Syndrome - i.e., what supporters of Donald call those who dislike him so vehemently they're willing to throw out logic and reason in their hatred of him.

Polymer or Aluminum? Polymer won't hold up and will crack at the buffer tube eventually. Even the best ones don't last..They do make good lowers for rimfire though.

Some of the latest polymer 80% seem to be holding up really well (gen 3 556 and James Madison 80%). As for any polymer AR lower that’s certainly not true. Check out GWACS if in doubt. It’s sturdier than a standard aluminum lower.

I'm not buying it. Polymer breaks down under heat, UV, and rough handling far easier than aluminum. Polymer takes approximately 20-40 years to break down in a landfill while aluminum takes 200-400 years. While the newer designs of poly lowers might be better, there is no way plastic is going to last longer than metal..

Thanks for the warm welcome. I was aware of the bill but wasn't sure what happened with it. That's why I asked you guys.

Quick update. I went ahead and printed a lower and attached it to a side charging upper. It's manually operated so no heavy stress from the reciprocating bcg. Just took it to the range it worked fine with no problems. Btw does anyone know how to attach a picture?

Try this: Go Advanced, then scroll down to Manage Attachments to attach the image.
