5th circuit states we must pay the poll tax!

A gun rights group was properly denied a preliminary injunction against the enforcement of the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act, which requires gun owners to pay for a license to own a firearm, an appeals court in Illinois ruled.

Although the group has raised a “fair question” about a right to own a gun without paying a fee to the state, a preliminary injunction would cause “irreparable harm to the state,” which would not be able to identify individuals unqualified to possess the weapons.

So much for cops calling in people they stop for wants, warrants, and to check if felon-in-possession when they find a gun on LivePD...

google is your friend, I am not.
The opinion actually seems to agree that the FOID is likely unconstitutional in some aspects. Its hard to win a preliminary injunction against a sweeping law like FOID.

on to the merits, I guess. this is not a final judgement.
