Here’s a pretty cool piece I picked up several months back. Figured you all might appreciate this Walther made (ac 44) P-38. It was brought home by a Veteran out of PA. After I purchased this I found the hand receipt rolled up inside the barrel. Also included is an interesting Hi-Power holster and spare magazine.

That's awesome and its great to see a "bring back" with provenance as opposed to 99% of them that have no real evidence but are good fodder for people with money in their hands.

I have a luger that is similar.

Also what is it with Hi Power Holsters? What are they always Hi Power holsters!

    Always cool to see a P.38 :)

Story goes there was a table with pistols, and a table with holsters, and you grabbed what you could...

Also, at the end the Germans really weren't too concerned with what pistol went in which holster.
The P38 fits nicely in a BHP holster with lots of room for that spare mag...
the BHP holster also has one wide, sturdy belt loop instead of the two thin flimsy ones on a P38 holster.

I have been looking for a nice matching, bring back for a while now, at a reasonable price.

    Nice looking pistol.

Nice! Hang on to that paper. Provenance is everything!!!!
Many of the firearms sold as "Vet bring back" aren't. Imports weren't all marked as such in the '40s thru '60s.
For instance, my first centerfire was an Interarms imported K-98 my dad got me in the late '60s. The only "import marking" on it was an oval Interarms sticker on the stock. Peeled the sticker off and instant "Vet bringback"!

I see these on various auctions sites all the time: "non import". Uh, no. They were imported before importer markings were required by law. And yes, they were made overseas. Hence, they are defacto "imports", markings or not.

Great find. I love it

Very nice looking piece! I was fortunate to pick up a P38 with holster a few years ago. Mine is a cyq, Spreewerk, manufacture. I take it to the range every now and then.
